Our Kaiya girl crossed the rainbow bridge. Our sweet, sassy, spunky, spitfire girl who refused to walk on hardwood floors but also had no fear when it came to anything else will truly be missed. I’m so grateful I got to hug you one last time the other week. My heart is broken and you will forever hold such a special place in it. You gave our family the best 11 years. I know you are chasing squirrels/bunnies and playing with all the scrunchies up there. I love you pumpkin!

We proudly celebrate Chad Benson’s inauguration as Morningside’s 14th president!

A Morningside Alum himself, President Benson knows firsthand what it means to be part of this community. Together, we celebrate a leader who shares our commitment to lifelong learning, ethical leadership, and civic responsibility.

Congratulations, Chad, and welcome home.❤️

Welcome to the Morningside family, President Chad Benson! 🫘

Last night, our new president was welcomed the Morningside way: a shower of beans. The tradition dates back to March 26, 1911, when President Luther Freeman stood at the chapel rostrum and asked for “blessings from above.” Right on cue, beans poured down from the ventilator overhead. A year later, President Craig got his own shower, thanks to an alarm clock, a pan, a piece of string, and an old hurdle. And by the end of the decade, a beloved tradition was born. When you can laugh together, you can lead together. That’s the Morningside way.

This week, we celebrate this incredible man becoming the president of his alma mater.
He is truly a man of many talents —from writing a book, to writing our father-daughter dance song at my wedding, and now accomplishing this incredible milestone of becoming president of Morningside College.

Dad, I am beyond proud of you and all that you continue to accomplish. I feel so blessed and honored to call you my father. Congratulations on this well-deserved achievement! Morningside is so lucky to have you❤️ I wish I could attach the whole song you wrote me to this post, but looks like everyone’s gonna have to listen for themselves! I love you!

My heart is so full after last weekend! Porters first long road trip back to Iowa, first time getting into the swimming pool, got to see Pops office and Lala and Pops new home. But best of all we got to see our two favorites @victoriaaa_lockard & @sagert07 get married and be apart of their special day! Never easy leaving these people!
