I am thrilled to share that the archives of The Garage (2005–2009), the exhibition and curatorial project space I founded, curated, and directed has officially become part of the Smithsonian Archives of American Art.

This inclusion ensures that the exhibitions, projects, and collaborations that took place at The Garage will be preserved and accessible for future generations as part of the historical record of contemporary art practice in the United States.

I’m deeply grateful to everyone who contributed to its vision and to the Smithsonian for ensuring its legacy will be preserved.

I visited the Smithsonian Archives of American Art today and my archives of The Garage are in the stacks! And in very good company. What an incredible resource and collection and team of dedicated archivist and curators. Spent some time looking through
Leon Golub’s papers and Louise Nevelson. Thanks to the incredible curator who made this all happen - you know who you are . 🙏❤️thanks for the swag😊

Music Box Couple, #watercolor and #acrylic on paper on board. I made this triptych in 2010 after a serious health crisis. The broken figurines are a metaphor for trauma and loss. I ordered the music box on eBay and it arrived in pieces - perfect for what I was painting. Made in 2010.

In 2016 I was an artist in residence at @cmuartanddesign and had a solo show at @cmuartgallery
My installation seen here was titled 1 in 5 referring to the sexual assault statistics on college campuses at the time. The three dresses in watercolor, acrylic and collage (rose dress had collages roses) hung over a hand painted wall paper with the 1 in 5 repeat. Students assisted with painting the wall 💕I imagine that number has changed.

Today is the last day to see Tomorrow the Sun Will Rise at @phillipscollection. The design of the show is so beautiful with the Sun setting arches leading you from one room to the other, the curatorial pairings and I’m especially pleased that my colleague @sashbask and I are hung on the same wall next to each other. Thanks to everyone who visited and of course the jurors and curators @tiejojima

It’s hard to put into words all my feelings on this 25th anniversary of 9/11 - from my husband coming home after hours unreachable boat lifted from NYC to Jersey City. My sister in law who worked in the financial district who was unreachable for hours not knowing if she was OK, watching tower 1 and 7 fall from my then 2year old daughter’s bedroom window. I went with my neighbor on September 14 to ground zero to deliver supplies that were donated from around the country on a ferry boat. I was the only woman on that boat that night of 40 men. We unloaded with the many workers already at ground zero. I will never forget that night. My heart is heavy for those who lost loved ones. 🖤 by @murphymarg
