Events are about more than schedules and speakers. They are about energy, connection and the shared moments in between.

My approach is calm and observant. I move alongside what is unfolding, documenting the arrivals, the conversations, the atmosphere you have intentionally created, and the smiles when someone looks up and meets the lens.

I do not over direct. I pay attention. The result is honest imagery that reflects both how it felt to be there and who was part of it.

This work suits community gatherings, creative workshops and values led organisations wanting photographs that hold the detail and the depth of the day.

Photography for landscapes, interiors and the built environment

Spaces and places shape how people move, gather and feel. Whether it’s a landscape, an interior, or a built environment, my approach is centred on understanding how a place is experienced rather than simply how it looks.

I work with designers, architects, landscapers and local businesses to photograph spaces with care and clarity. The focus is on light, materiality, scale and flow, and on how a place supports the people who use it.

This is a collaborative and thoughtful process that allows time to understand the intention behind the work, resulting in imagery that feels honest, grounded and enduring.

Alongside my photography work, I run Grounded By Designs, an eco-conscious ceramic studio and workshop space based within @moaandco_ in Carrington.

The studio sits as a natural extension of how I approach all creative work. It is guided by mindful making, presence, and a genuine care for people and place. Rather than focusing on outcomes or expertise, the studio invites people to slow down, work with their hands, and spend time in a supportive and welcoming environment.

Through workshops, self-directed studio sessions and community gatherings, Grounded By Designs offers accessible ways to engage creatively, whether you are arriving with curiosity, seeking connection, or simply wanting to spend time doing something different together.

At its core, the studio is about process, community and creative rhythm. It is a space to step away from expectation, reconnect with yourself and others, and experience creativity as something shared and nourishing.

Quietly over the moon about this one ✨

Grounded By Designs has been named a finalist in the Tourist Attractions category of the 2026 NSW Tourism Awards.

Thank you to every single person who has come to play with clay, paint something beautiful, or simply needed a moment to slow down.

None of this happens without our roomies, MOA & co, the legendary Fogarty family, our amazing team, our incredible guests, our partners, and the small business community of Newcastle who have incredible services and offerings. Grateful does not quite cover it.

It's SMA Awareness Month.

Most of you following along here don't know this part of our story. So here it is.

We have an almost 21 month old who has SMA, Type 1 a genetic condition that affects the nerve cells controlling muscle strength and movement.

SMA hasn't defined her. She loves a good chat, always ready for the park, and never goes to bed without an armful of teddies. Surrounded by friends and family who adore her.

We found out from the heel prick test. “If you don't hear anything, you're all good,” said the midwife as we left the hospital. My mum had 5 of us, surely we’ll be right.

We heard something. Ten days later.

If you're planning a baby, or you're pregnant right now, your journey is yours.

But I will say this, say yes to the Medicare-covered gene test. The one that includes cerebral palsy, fragile X and SMA.

I can see now how bringing that grief forward might have felt like the harder path in the moment.

Today, she's thriving. And we're some of the lucky ones. We live in a country that backs science, and backs families.

Thank you.

To the public hospital system, for the continued kindness and support we didn't expect and needed anyway.

To our community providers, for showing up for our little one.

To family and friends, for the unconditional love you have for our gal.

To everyone who says yes to paying tax. It's not glamorous. But you've funded more than you'll ever know.

Grounded By Designs is a ceramic studio and workshop space within @moaandco_, where Myf creates relaxed clay experiences designed for slowing down and making with your hands.

Play with Clay ✨

If you’ve been wanting to get your hands in clay, but without committing to a full workshop or worrying about what you’ll make, this is for you.

Play with Clay is a self directed experience available daily while MOA is open. There’s a designated table just outside the studio where you can grab a kit, sit down, and begin. Everything you need is there. You move at your own pace.

It’s open to every skill level. Drop in because you’re curious. Drop in to switch off. Drop in to try something new with friends. Kits can be shared with up to four people, which makes it easy to gather friends or family and settle in.

What makes this experience different is that it’s about the process, not the product. There’s no expectation to create something finished or keep what you make. When there’s no outcome attached, something shifts. You experiment more. You reshape. You start again. You let your hands lead.

Research shows that when our hands are occupied, conversation deepens. It becomes easier to open up, to listen, to stay present. You’re not just catching up. You’re sharing something.

✨ For those wanting a more guided and meditative approach, @brontee_meditation hosts monthly Present Hands workshops in the space, weaving clay with mindfulness and sound ✨

If you’re not quite ready to let your pieces go, you’re welcome to leave them in our Play with Clay mini gallery for a little while before they’re reclaimed back into clay.

If you’ve been looking for a simple way to bring more creativity into your week, or a different way to gather your people, this is an easy place to begin. Come, grab a coffee and see how it fits into your rhythm.

Grounded By Designs is a ceramic studio and workshop space within @moaandco_, where Myf offer’s relaxed clay experiences like Paint Your Piece.

Paint Your Piece 🎨

This is your reminder that you don’t need to book a full workshop to get creative in the studio.

Paint Your Piece is a self-directed, drop-in studio session. During MOA’s open hours, you can pop in, choose a handmade ceramic piece, and paint at your own pace. Everything you need is already set up and waiting for you, such as the paints, brushes, and tools.

Come solo, with a friend, and make it part of your day out. Stay for a short while or linger a little longer MOA’s got the refreshments sorted.

If you’re keen for more guidance, you’re always welcome to drop in during our studio hours. I’m around on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9:30 to 12:30pm, and Sundays from 10 to 12pm, to answer questions or help you get started.

Our seasonal Grounded Gatherings are another option. These are after hours sessions designed for you to gather your people, get creative together and connect without worrying about the clean up. The difference with Grounded Gatherings is the shared, after hours experience created especially for slowing down together.

Whether you’re ready to give it a go on your own, or prefer a little support to get started, there’s a place for you here.

Hey there, 2026.

This year marks a more intentional and connected way of sharing my work.

@myfgarven_creative brings together my photography practice and ceramic studio under one umbrella, guided by a shared approach that values process, place, and people.

After becoming a mum, my relationship with time has shifted. I still love both disciplines deeply, but I’m moving forward with more clarity around how I work, what I offer, and how I can best show up for others in a way that’s sustainable and meaningful.

My photography work now focuses on these areas:

Events & Gatherings
Documenting community events, workshops, celebrations, and shared moments with a balance of candid and considered imagery.

Spaces & Places
Capturing landscapes, outdoor environments, interiors, and architecture in a way that reflects both function and feeling.

Alongside photography sits @groundedbydesigns, my ceramic studio and workshop space within @moaandco_. The studio offers three distinct ways you can engage with the creative process:

Drop-in Studio Sessions
Self-directed Play with Clay and Paint Your Piece sessions, enjoyed at your own pace during MOA & co’s open hours.

Claytime Workshops
Guided, small-group workshops focused on intentional making. Materials, refreshments, and firing are all included.

Grounded Gatherings
Relaxed community gatherings for shared creative moments and meaningful connection.

Together, these offerings create clear and considered ways to work together, whether you’re booking photography, stepping into the studio, or gathering people around a creative experience.
