A look behind the scenes of A Room Elsewhere! During ADE weekend, we curated and built a room for the in-between moments of a night out, in collaboration with @rooomradio and @taleofbus. Inspired by the chill-out rooms of the 90s, we turned the space into an immersive world of light, projection, sculpture, textiles and painting. Room Radio soundtracked it with slower-paced sets from their DJs, played through a sound system by @allhandson.dex Guests sat, wandered, and connected with the people around them, discovering art along the way before heading back to the dancefloor. Thank you to Room Radio and Tale of Bus for making this with us, and to everyone who stopped by. Shoutout @momentswithmerrie for capturing the night beautifully by @naomirechtman
Bring back the chill out room 💚 During ADE, we’re opening “A Room Elsewhere” at Het Salon, together with Room Radio and Elsewhere Project. Inspired by the chill-out rooms of the ’90s, a space to slow down, discover art, connect with others and drift into slower sounds before returning to the dancefloor. Location: Het Salon / ToB Garage When: Friday & Saturday during ADE Entrance: Free, with donations welcome to support the artists who bring this space to life. Come slow down, explore and travel somewhere else. See you next week :) @elsewhere_project_ @rooomradio by @naomirechtman
Part 4 recapping Sun-baked with @elsewhere_project_ last month Love in a Mist is a reinterpretation of the chandelier: an object traditionally associated with grandeur, decoration, and static interiors. Instead, the piece draws inspiration from the delicate structure of a seed pod, the organic skeleton of a flower after it has fully bloomed. Named after the flower Nigella Damascena, also known as “Love in a Mist,” the sculpture reflects on cycles of growth, abundance, and transition. Suspended above a communal table, the sculpture becomes part of the gathering itself. A pulsating light within gives it a living presence, as though it is breathing. Its thorn-like extensions weave outward like a web, symbolising the relationships, memories, and new possibilities that grow through coming together. Shoutout to @maxime.brandt for providing some wonderful greenery for the installation from the garden of De Kas 💕 by @naomirechtman
Part 3 recapping Sun-baked with @elsewhere_project_ last month Elusive Terrain is a collection of memories, dreams, and imagined landscapes painted onto black canvases. Sparked from a journal entry written during a period of intense recurring dreams in places of my childhood. Accompanied by a soundscape created with @hellorhuiz 💕 The work invites viewers into the blurred territory between memory and imagination. The landscapes are fragments of places both familiar and unknown: childhood forests, forgotten homes, and territories that exist somewhere between past and present. They explore the way memories transform over time: becoming less like fixed records and more like living landscapes that shift, expand, and return in unexpected ways. Diving into the inner worlds we carry with us, the places we return to, the ones we have lost, and the ones we continue to create. by @naomirechtman
Part 2 of recapping Sun-baked with @elsewhere_project_ last month The Multitudes series explored the relationship between the individual and the collective imaginary: the ideas, desires, and possible futures we may dream of when we come together. Here, the forest and field become a space of communion, where human and natural forms intertwine. The abundance of summer and its long days create a space for lingering, for gathering, wandering, and being together beyond the usual boundaries of time. From the characters backs, flowers bloom symbolizing what can emerge when individual imagination meets collective re-imagining & deconstructing. I decided to pair Multitude I with some project mapped animated hands to give the painting a sense of aliveness, of extra surrealism and to truly showcase this multitude coming to life around us. by @naomirechtman
Part 1 of recapping Sun-baked with @elsewhere_project_ last month Shul was an LED installation positioned at the entrance of the event, creating a threshold between the everyday world and the space beyond. The visual system displayed on the screens brings together photographs taken in the summer mountains, moving between vast landscapes, plant micro details, and human silhouettes. The photographs are transformed in @touchdesigner through layers of visual textures: ripples, lines, pathways, and interconnected forms, that move across and between the images. These become the shul: traces left behind by movement, connection, and passage through a landscape. By shifting between the vast and the microscopic, the recognisable and the abstract, the work plays with how we perceive and remember a landscape. Rather than simply depicting nature, it asks how we experience it through our senses: the warmth of the sun on our skin, the texture of earth beneath our feet, the feeling of water, or the sensation of moving through a landscape. by @naomirechtman
Two weeks of summer with my love @emma_vrij 💕👙 feat. my 2m long roll of canvases by @naomirechtman
A little recap of a very lovely day. Nearly 200 of you came through, and we were so happy to see the @het.salon.ateliers space filled with people, art, food, music and makers. We started Sun-baked with the idea of creating a space where art could feel lived in, where paintings, food, music, jewellery, plants, fabrics and people could all exist together. Seeing so many of you show up and make that space your own was more than we could have hoped for 🥹 We’re so grateful to every artist, maker, musician, collaborator and friend who helped bring it to life, and especially to everyone who came, stayed, shared, danced and made connections along the way. So honoured to have collaborated with @lautjeeats_ with her summery treats and cannot wait for more!!! Thank you to our beautiful DJs for guiding us through the day with their tunes @Rhuiz @dj3ade. So nice to have @myrthespoelstra showcase her beautiful jewelry and @the.hook.down for teaching us some crocheting skills!! And love always to our spicy bartenders @baran_basimi & @mohit_neb. A huge thank you to our photographers @luisew8 @xismeinedo @alyumrukcal and @jordyvworcum for capturing these moments and to our wonderful sponsors @wakulicoffee and @roaoats for supporting us and helping make the day possible. We’ll be coming back to you soon with more exciting projects and initiatives but for now see you elsewhere!! -Naomi and Nina 💕 by @naomirechtman
