Happy fucking birthday to one of my favorite humans on this entire stupid little planet. Its wild that Ive gotten to spend two birthdays with you now and somehow I love you even more than I did the year before. Heres to many, many more birthdays, questionable decisions, ridiculous adventures, and years of getting to watch you be exactly who you are. I love that we get to be gross, stupid idiots together. We can be absolute goblins, say the dumbest shit imaginable, laugh until we cant breathe, and somehow still turn around and have the deepest, most ridiculous conversations. Theres something so special about having someone you can be completely unfiltered with and still feel completely loved. You're the Kyle to my Cartman, the Castiel to my Dean, and somehow also the person who will furiously defend me like I'm the last surviving cryptid on Earth. You love me loudly, you stand up for me fiercely, and you have this incredible way of making me feel like I never have to face the world alone. I hope you know how deeply loved you are not just today, but every day. You deserve every ridiculous birthday cake, every stupid inside joke, every adventure, and every person who looks at you and thinks, yeah, that’s my fucking guy. Happy birthday my love. Thank you to Angela for helping me grieve by bringing this beautiful art to life.

This is Jorge's guitar. Wrapped in fiddlehead ferns from one of his favorite IPAs ; a beer I hated, and would probably hate still, but grief has a way of making holy things out of everything someone touched. Now resting opposite of that heinous Genesee Cream Rossi loved so much.

Your music always understood longing. It understood love without guarantees. It understood that sometimes the chorus comes back even when you are begging the song to end differently. And now we are all singing your name.

You picked up a guitar, and somehow built a room big enough for all of us to belong in. Now you are gone, and we are left standing in the echo of everything you gave us, trying to figure out how something so full of life could leave such an impossible silence.

So I put your guitar on my body. I let the ferns grow around it. Because that is what you taught us, whether you meant to or not: love does not disappear. It changes shape. It becomes a song someone else remembers the words to. It becomes a room full of people crying and laughing at the same time. It becomes something permanent. I carry you now. Your music. Your joy. Your terrible IPA. And all the love you left growing behind you. We love you, Jorge.

I'm here to do the thing we all hate doing: ask you to vote for my workplace. I know. I know. Every business is constantly asking you to vote, review, share, tag your cousin, your mailman, and that one person you haven't spoken to since 2017. But I'm asking anyway, because from behind this desk, I get to see what your support actually means. A year ago Elegance took a chance on me and helped change my life. Everyday I see nervous first-timers walk through our doors and leave feeling like absolute badasses. I see artists obsess over tiny details, staff answer the same questions for the 900th time, and everyone here put genuine care into making sure people feel safe, respected, educated, and excited about their experience. So yes, your vote matters.

From all of us at the Dirty Gerund, we invite our community to join Jorge's family, friends, and loved ones as we gather to honor and remember his life.

Jorge was family to so many of us, and we know the depth of this loss reaches far beyond any one room or group of people. As we continue to grieve the impossible reality of losing him, we hope those who loved him will come together to support his family and one another, share in his memory, and celebrate the person who meant so damn much to so many.
