My first time seeing the one and only Jilly from Philly, Jill Scott, live at the iconic Royal Albert Hall, and what an experience it was. An extraordinary evening filled with warmth, soul, humor, and a voice that effortlessly fills every corner of the room. Her presence, her energy, and the way she connects with her audience made this a night unlike any other. 🎶 Last night, I attended the final London show of Erykah Badu’s An Intimate Experience at Blue Note London. 🇬🇧
It was my third time seeing @erykahbadu live. The first two were at Constitution Hall in Washington, DC, during my college years. I was blown away then, and more than two decades later, she did it again.
This time, in a remarkably intimate setting, she was just a few feet away. Her extraordinary musicianship, effortless improvisation, and unmistakable charisma were even more captivating up close.
Made all the more special by sharing the evening with a dear friend and unexpectedly running into more loved ones. A night of soul, friendship, and serendipity. ✨

In memory of Duncan Sheik 🕊️, I wanted “Barely Breathing” to have a permanent place on my feed. It remains, to me, one of the most beautifully written songs by a male artist: elegant, wounded, intelligent, and somehow still effortless nearly three decades later. ✨ @theduncansheik

🍫 I went into Cologne’s @schokoladenmuseum.koeln 🇩🇪 with some skepticism. Cacao has South American roots, much of it is grown in Africa, and Europe became enormously wealthy from the systems that moved, processed, and profited from it. 🍫 So I was genuinely pleased to see the museum confront that history rather than curate chocolate as a harmless European pleasure. @DollyParton’s career began long before I was born, and country music wasn’t exactly easy to come by growing up outside North America. But somewhere along the way, I found her.

Over the years, I kept discovering the songs, then the albums, then the stories behind them. And the more I discovered, the more I loved her. Not just the unmistakable voice and extraordinary songwriting, but the warmth, wit, generosity and humanity that seemed to run through everything she did.

She became one of those artists who somehow felt familiar, even from thousands of miles away.

I put together six of my favorite Dolly songs while wandering around Amsterdam today. Six is nowhere near enough, of course, but these are six I keep coming back to.

Thank you for all the music, Dolly. I will always love you. 🤍
