Wunderlust album out now 💿!! Feeling so proud and grateful. Creating a cohesive end to end concept album has been a life goal and it finally came together after a ton of effort over and so many obstacles along the way. I have so many people to thank for their involvement and encouragement and will be sure to share a lot more along the way. Really pushing hard to get this out there so please take an opportunity to give it listen, especially on your next commute or adventure. Special first shout out to the @wideawakeglobal for believing in this, pushing me to finish, and helping bring the concept to life with this amazing artwork!! Any guesses where these original shots were taken? by @neilnines

Growing up, we imagine our lives playing out like the movies. The hero’s journey, the great love story, the feeling that an extraordinary adventure is waiting for us.

But what happens when we chase our dreams and life doesn’t quite follow the script?

Hollywood is Over was written with nostalgia and disillusionment in mind, coming to terms with the difference between the world we imagined and the one we are living in.

The song also reflects the actual transformation of the entertainment industry, and the uncertainty that lies ahead.

Hope you’ll give it a spin 💿
Special thanks to:

Have found a perfect second studio home for me at Ravelant Studios.

After years of mostly producing solo it’s great to be in a collaborative environment again and learning a lot from working in a Nashville-style, live oriented set up. Grateful to @brianpottsmusic @john.is.abstruze and the team behind bringing @ravelant.studios to life. by @neilnines

A lot can change in 3 years.

I was wrapping up what I called my “creative sabbatical”, a summer in Berlin. I showed up to a city knowing nobody but somehow figured it out. It was tough at times, but I sure had myself a time, and it gave me the confidence to do more solo travel in the years since.

At that point in my life, Berlin represented a peak experience of electronic music. I immersed myself completely, hung out with some amazing people, and even managed to even get into Berghain. I even produced a song about that experience called “Club Nacht.”

It ultimately took me another 2+ years to finish the album, as it expanded to include more experiences at home and abroad.

By the time I released Wunderlust, though, I was already so ready for the next thing and launching what would become Scarlet Cinema that I don’t know if I fully appreciated it. I certainly didn’t promote it much.

While my creative direction has shifted for now, it’s been really nice listening back through my catalog and realizing I still genuinely enjoy the music I made.

And now, three years later, I can see what that time meant to me in a new light. by @neilnines

Getting back into competitive tennis and making rock music again. Feels like I’m reconnecting with my younger self. by @neilnines

Every new city I visit abroad seems to unlock a new perspective.

Some of my favorite moments in Mexico City involved simply wandering its neighborhoods and wandering into an inviting cafe.

I tried something new this trip and hired a street photographer to capture some of these moments.

The architecture, greenery, and most of all the people are why this city have an unmistakeable presence and magic.

I will truly cherish these memories, especially the experience of being here for a historical World Cup! Definitely look forward to being back in 🇲🇽

There’s a lot wrapped up in this one.

Frustration. Desire. Distraction. The feeling of wanting escape but not exactly knowing where to go.

Writing and performing this song provided a way to let some of this out.

We’ve been hearing comparisons to several of my favorite bands from growing up, curious what you hear.

Going harder on this one. Pre save in bio by @neilnines

Scarlet Cinema started as a sonic vision, then became a world.

Monochrome until something breaks.

Old Hollywood mystique and cinematic escape.

Gilded Age is next. This one goes harder. Pre-save link in bio.
