Just sharing some of the new audiovisual liveset I put together for the recent @crux_av_london x @light.up.ramsgate event I performed at.
All of the new video material was just shot on my old iPhone and then processed to hell and back in Resolume Arena, with lots of BPM Sync on parameter modulation and an audio feed from Ableton Live.
I'm liking the new aesthetic, which I also used for the 4K music video for my track Barrage that's up on YouTube courtesy of the @grey_meta label!

No AV gigs lined up for the forseeable future, let me know if you can help to change that! ;)

CARDIFF LINEUP ANNOUNCEMENT:

FORCE MAJEURE
@forcemajeureaudio
Force Majeure is the experimental alias of Cardiff-based Nick Ronin, a veteran of the UK DIY rave scene. A long-time producer and performer across aliases including Killdren, Villain and Ronin, Nick’s Force Majeure project dives into the abstract side of club sonics: exploratory and unpredictable. His last release Unexploded Device (on Grey Meta) is a volatile fusion of off-kilter techno, granular field recordings, and hardware-driven intensity. Here he will present a version of his audiovisual show that also incorporates more downtempo works from his two albums.
https://linktr.ee/forcemajeure

Event on Sat 26 September in Cardiff @thecanopicardiff – close to the city centre and central train station. Cheaper advance tickets are on sale, though you can pay cash/card on the door too.

For more details check links in bio!

Electronic music/video people of Cardiff and surrounding areas!

I'm teaching a couple of two-day workshops in the coming weeks at the wonderful CULTVR venue (which isn't that far from nearby train stations).

Next week is a Resolume course for learning about visuals for live events or audiovisual performances. We'll go from the very basics through to more advanced topics and maybe even a touch of mapping.

The week after is a performance course for Ableton Live (also the subject of my latest book coming later this year!). Where we will scale up a liveset from basic audio playback to include MIDI instruments and advanced setups.

Both are priced affordably at £100 for two days (or £80 if concessions apply to you). Group sizes will be small, so plenty of opportunity to get help on your own bespoke setup.

Booking is via the CULTVR website, like and share to those you know who might be interested! :)

Out today on the Catalyst VA compilation on @purple.music__ is a fixup of an older Obese track Nutter Magnet. It’s a darkside hardcore meets electrocore and jungle number, get on it - all the tracks bang certifiably. by @nick.ronin

June was the most varied month of my life in terms of releasing different music, shooting music videos and entering into new genres and styles I had never worked in before!
It went from folk-electronica > ambient > noise > dubby beats > breakcore > bass music
I think most of it is via links in my bio, but I've likely missed something!

Check out my new noise EP released today – Nucleation Point – over on my Bandcamp page!

It's two squelchy, glitchy and noisy tracks of pure filth. I never really crank it as much as this and so it’s been a nice set of experiments that I thought I might as well publish. Check it out and support me by buying it if you can :)
https://forcemajeureuk.bandcamp.com/album/nucleation-point

I’ve had a second (quite chilled tbh) 2nd album from recorded synth jams and hardware experiments ready for nearly two years now, but I had the silly idea of trying to release it as an immersive audio album, which just delayed everything. I will probably just finish the last few stereo mixes and then release it as normal - with an immersive listening option.

There’s also a techno EP I made for the Grey Meta label that came out at the beginning of the year (shit me, it’s already half way through!):

Al links in bio and at:

Hope you enjoy the 'music'
Nick

Our producer @nick.ronin talks us through some of the process for putting together the Y Goriad EP that came out last Friday.
The production leans heavily on sampling techniques, with all four musicians only meeting up for the first time at the launch event last week!
All proceeds from sales go to worthy causes, so please support by buying the EP - or contact us if you want to donate directly!

🎵 OUT NOW!!! 🎵

CHWALAW – Y GORIAD is live on Bandcamp now!

chwalaw.bandcamp.com

Thank you so much to everyone who came to the launch party last night, it was absolutely AMAZING! It was very special listening to it together, and also bringing the five of us together in the same room for the first time, with some *stunning* live performances in the beautiful @tynicardiff space!!!

So, head over to bandcamp now to check out the 4 tracks. It's a big mix of styles: Welsh triple harp + Palestinian oud + electronica + vocals ranging from hip hop to soul to punk. Recorded at our home studio in Splott. @nick.ronin worked his magic, arranging, producing and mixing it!

Thanks again to @diwydiant_bythynnod @john.abell for this STUNNING artwork and to Richy Hughes at Binary Feedback for mastering.

This release (and last night's launch) is raising money for @save._.gazaa and @ismpalestine so feel free to donate more if you want! The release will be on major streaming platforms (apart from Spotify) in around a week's time, so if you prefer to donate without buying the music you can also paypal.me/efasupertramp and put the reference 'Chwalaw' 🔥

Diolch o galon for your support. 🇵🇸

We hope you enjoy the TUNES!

What happens if you combine a welsh triple harp, a palestinian oud player, fiery punk vocals and bilingual rap and soul - all mixed and arranged by an Ableton master and free party veteran? In the Welsh-language, may I add! Well you’re about to find out because the five of us made a 4-track EP and we’re very excited for you to hear it! We’re having a launch party at @tynicardiff on Thursday 4th June from 6:30-10pm 🏠 Ticket link in bio🔗 I’m so excited for you to hear it! This EP and gig will be raising money for @save._.gazaa and @ismpalestine 🇵🇸 Y Goriad translates as ‘The Key’ 🔑 The EP will go live on #BandcampFriday on 5th June so make sure you buy it then because @bandcamp waive their fees for the day!

The launch party will have live performances from @the_mermerings / Oud Resists / @ceryshafana / @efasupertramp / @nick.ronin 🔈 taken in Cardiff, Wales (UK) by @nick.ronin
