Big news from NMF. 🎉

We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Kameron Leigh Matthews, MD, JD, FAAFP, as the new leader of our revitalized Alumni Alliance!

Dr. Matthews isn't just joining NMF, she's coming home. As an NMF alumna, she knows firsthand what it means to be believed in, invested in, and lifted up. Now, she's stepping into a role built to do exactly that for our entire alumni family, more than 45,000 strong.

An award-winning physician, healthcare executive, and advocate, Dr. Matthews has spent her career expanding access to excellent care and opening doors for future healthcare leaders. Her path spans correctional medicine, federally qualified health centers, academic health systems, and the Veterans Health Administration, and she currently serves as Chief Health Officer at IMPaCT Care.

"NMF invested in me at a pivotal point in my journey, and that support has stayed with me throughout my career," said Dr. Matthews. "As we reintroduce the Alumni Alliance, I hope every alum who has benefited from NMF will consider how they, too, can help those coming up behind them."

This is a full-circle moment, and the start of something big. Under Dr. Matthews' leadership, the Alumni Alliance will reconnect generations of NMF Scholars and reignite a simple, powerful truth: when one generation reaches back to lift the next, the impact goes far beyond medicine.

There's a moment this work creates.

The moment someone who wanted to serve communities facing the greatest health challenges finally had the support to do it. The moment a scholar became a physician. The moment a physician went back to the place that needed them most.

NMF has been creating that moment since 1946.

It started in Chicago. At Provident Hospital, with 10 fellowships and one physician who understood that the future of care depended on who was allowed to deliver it. That conviction built something that has now touched 45,000 scholars across every state in this country.

This October, we're going back.

Back to Chicago. Back to the mission. Back to the community of scholars, healers, advocates, and partners who believe that excellent care for all is not an aspiration. It's an obligation.
