“I have done my own research.” How do you respond? Combating misinformation starts with listening not lecturing. Dr. Aerial Petty joined leaders across public health to talk about what it really takes to build trust in communities. Our health and well-being revolve around the body and the complexities that lie within. 🩺 Miguel Lastra, Puerto Rican sculptor and ceramist, is adept at depicting those bodily nuances through his art. He questions what the body wants, needs, and what those solutions are. Installations such as “Hernando” by Lastra feature a curled-up body atop a bed of earth inside a glass tank, under the gaze of a UV grow light with an IV water bag and pole. “That ominous IV bag and tubing that pierces the body might feel unsettling, but it carries medicine, hydration, and nutrients. I want to reveal that aspect of objects—the thing we know is happening but don’t actively recognize,” says Lastra.
