Angelina Jolie brought Maleficent to life with a powerful performance that gave the character a more emotional and complex story, while Elle Fanning portrayed Princess Aurora with a warm and innocent energy. Their chemistry helped make the relationship between Maleficent and Aurora one of the most memorable parts of the film. Maleficent reimagines the classic story of Sleeping Beauty by telling the story from the perspective of the fairy who became known as its villain. Once a kind and powerful protector of the Moors, Maleficent’s world changes after she is betrayed by someone she trusted, leaving her heartbroken and consumed by anger. Years later, she places a curse on King Stefan’s newborn daughter, Aurora. However, as Aurora grows up, Maleficent finds herself becoming protective of the young princess and develops a bond with her that she never expected.

Percy Jackson began as a story Rick Riordan created for his son, who loved Greek mythology and wanted to hear bedtime stories about it. When Riordan ran out of traditional myths to tell, he began creating his own adventures featuring a modern-day demigod named Percy Jackson. That idea eventually became Percy Jackson & the Olympians, beginning with The Lightning Thief, which was published in 2005. Riordan combined Greek mythology with the modern world, imagining what it would be like if the ancient gods, monsters, and heroes still existed today. What started as a bedtime story grew into a bestselling book series that introduced millions of readers to Percy, Annabeth, Grover, and the world of Camp Half-Blood. Rick Riordan’s ability to make ancient mythology feel modern, funny, and relatable is a huge part of what made Percy Jackson so beloved and allowed the story to grow into a much bigger universe.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians premiered on Disney+ in December 2023, bringing Rick Riordan’s beloved characters back to the screen in a new adaptation of the books. At the center of the story is Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase, whose relationship grows from an unlikely friendship into one of the most important bonds in the series. Percy and Annabeth are complete opposites in many ways. Percy is impulsive, loyal, and often acts on instinct, while Annabeth is intelligent, strategic, and always thinking several steps ahead. Yet their differences are exactly what makes them work so well together.

Walker Scobell and Leah Sava Jeffries bring Percy and Annabeth to life in the Disney+ series, capturing the friendship and chemistry that make Percabeth so special. From their first season to what’s still ahead, their story continues to be one of the most anticipated parts of the show.

Elena Gilbert is the heart of The Vampire Diaries, a compassionate and determined character whose life changes completely after discovering the supernatural world of Mystic Falls. Throughout the series, Elena faces loss, love, friendship, and countless difficult choices while trying to protect the people closest to her. Her journey from an ordinary teenager to someone capable of facing some of the most powerful supernatural forces is a huge part of what makes her story so memorable. Nina Dobrev brought Elena to life throughout the series, while also taking on the roles of Katherine Pierce and other doppelgängers. Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase have become one of the most beloved duos in the Percy Jackson universe. Walker Scobell and Leah Sava Jeffries bring their friendship and chemistry to life in the Disney+ series, growing from teammates at Camp Half-Blood into the iconic Percabeth duo fans know and love.

Leah’s casting as Annabeth was also met with racist backlash when it was announced in 2022. Rick Riordan strongly condemned the harassment, and Alexandra Daddario, who previously played Annabeth in the films, publicly supported Leah, writing that she was going to be “an incredible Annabeth.”

Since then, Leah has made the role her own, while Walker and Leah have continued to develop the friendship and dynamic at the heart of Percy and Annabeth’s story.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians (2023). Annabeth Chase is one of the strongest and most intelligent demigods in the Percy Jackson universe. As the daughter of Athena, she is strategic, ambitious, and determined to prove herself. After spending years at Camp Half-Blood, Annabeth has become an experienced fighter and leader who is rarely afraid to face a challenge. Behind her confidence, however, is someone who has been through a lot. Annabeth carries the pressure of her family, her past, and her desire to build something she can finally call her own. Her loyalty to her friends, especially Percy and Grover, is one of the most important parts of who she is. Throughout the story, Annabeth grows from a determined young demigod into a brave and capable hero, learning that strength isn’t only about being the smartest person in the room, but also about trusting others and allowing herself to be vulnerable.
