We did it! Honored to be named to the Gambit (@gambitneworleans )40 Under 40 alongside some local legends.

My work centers on translating complex systems into public understanding and building the partnerships that move ideas into action across Bywater Branding (@bywaterbranding ), Climate Culture (@climateculture_nola ), and BYMBO (@bymbo.nola ). I can attribute much of my organizing skills to @nelliecatzen and the @betternola Leadership Forum!

Thank you to all of the friends and family who helped celebrate me and @thefunkfenomenon tying the knot! This weekend we felt so loved, supported, and seen as we stepped into our next chapter in life. We love you.

🎨 You can still enroll in Studio Art: Portfolio Development! Ages 10-14

Young artists will build their skills and their portfolios through drawing + painting projects using pencil, charcoal, watercolor & acrylic.

Students will explore color theory, shading, figure drawing, portraiture and more while creating 2–4 finished pieces for their portfolios. Each class combines instruction, independent studio time, personalized guidance and supportive critiques.

Semester ends with a student art show!

A site visit, a dream come true. @theshore.co led a small group of collaborators and key stakeholders to visit Shell Beach and San Malo with @bayoubarkada to listen, learn, and feel the history of place. We stood atop a Chitimacha Mound made of Rangia Clam shells, grown over with native plants- still standing above water after both Fort Proctor and a concrete navy yard had fallen to storms past. Named for a free leader of a marooned community, San Malo island also housed one of the first Filipino fishing settlements in the United States.

How can we honor the impermanence of settlement and the permanence of spirit? There are so many stories to tell. Looking forward to watching @paris.cian journey to build art as infrastructure with community.

The work continues! You came with us on a journey this Spring to See The Vision: Public Art as Infrastructure @smallcenter.tulane . With the help of @notcfoundation the @climateculture_nola community awarded @paris.cian @theshore.co @bayoubarkada a $5,000 grant to push forward the development of a floating stage platform to commemorate San Malo, a place of many peoples and stories. A place that speaks to climate migration, community, and standing up for freedom.

My favorite part about Climate Culture is how it strengthens the connective tissue between disparate communities over time. Slowly each of us can change our role in the collective, and in the world. We can plug in, we can support each other, we can lead, we can grow together.

🎨 Build your drawing and painting skills this fall! Ages 10-14

In this studio class, young artists will explore pencil, charcoal, watercolor, and acrylic paint while learning foundational techniques like color theory, shading, figure drawing and portraiture.

Each class combines instructional exercises with time for students to create their own original artwork. Students receive personalized guidance, participate in supportive critique sessions, and grow their confidence as artists. Semester concludes with a student art show!

Working yourself to the bone will not heal the wounds capitalism has scored across the earth. I’ve been begging for a break, a retreat, some space to sit and think. I had hoped that rest would wash away all my fears: climate anxiety, existential questions, pressures to perform, etc. Instead I found new questions, surprising desires, and how deep my exhaustion really runs.

My trip to the Northwest comes to a close just a little sooner than I feel ready to return. I’m still tired. But maybe, recognizing that constant motion in not a sustainable path towards systemic change is all I needed to take away from this moment of peace. No need to give up or stay still forever- it’s ok that the work is hard and that the challenges we collectively face seem to expand before our eyes daily. The world is changing. New goal: let limitations, the need for rest and nutrients, respect for myself and others need to ENJOY their lives… spawn creativity for more powerful and joyful solutions. Life is not a race. We cannot stop what’s coming. Cry if you need to… then decide what to do next. See you on the other side. by @nomad_magic
