Altra + Chamonix recap 🔂

I had a lovely few days in Chamonix with @altrarunning @altrarunning_europe during UTMB finals week. Packed quite a lot including participating in a panel on women in running, trail and ultra-running alongside elite athletes Eevi Bengs and Adriana Moser, nutritionist Nouchka Simic and Altra Head of Product Costanza Campos. It was such a pleasure to share the panel with them and hear about their experiences and perspectives

We covered a lot, from body confidence to safety, women’s elite sport, designing products that actually meet women’s needs, and the evolution of UTMB’s platform for women in trail running.

Big thanks to Altra for having me, and to everyone on the panel for such an open and inspiring discussion and for any one that swung by to tune in.

Here’s to celebrating women across running and continuing to create opportunities for women at every level of the sport. 🏔️✨ by @notyouraverageglo

Saturday // Sunday 🔂

Saturday: I had the absolute pleasure of moderating a panel with the glorious Mathieu! team at Run Culture Live.

The Mathieu! project saw 29 women and non binary take to the start line for a 50k ultra race in the Swiss alps. The project was more than just getting people entry to a race, it was an 8 month program that provided full support including coaching, nutritional support, kit and the support they needed to meet the goal.

I had the great pleasure of working with Tilly, Fatima and Miranda on the application selection process at the beginning of the project. Out of over 100 applications, many very compelling, and after reading and re-reading their applications we whittled it down to 29! So moderating the panel felt like a beautiful full circle moment. Proud of the team behind the project and all of the runners too.

Sunday: First race since Chicago marathon last October and I had a great time. I’d be lying if I didn’t say I’d become a bit over some of these runs in London, she says knowing full well she has vitality coming up 🙄 but in for a penny in for a pound as they say 😂, however rocking up for a run, seeing your mates and not being in the mix was stunning for me tbh. No goals in mind just to enjoy my long run in sun with 1000’s of others.

Anyway I didn’t set out for a PB, but somehow managed to shave some time off my last official half marathon effort. I certainly wasn’t out there with that in mind, but when I realised I would, it was just the cherry on top of a good run 🍒 by @notyouraverageglo

July July’d and it was mighty fine ♥️

One year of Cleopatra in one minute. 🖤

It’s been a whole year since this little darling moved in with me all the way from Bahrain - ain’t paid a single bill yet!.

As soon as I saw her photo I knew she was my cat, truly love at first sight.

The sweetest, gentlest kitty cat who is also very funny and an expert in parkour.

One of the beautiful things about Defected Croatia (specifically Croatia!) is the inter generational presence on the dance floor. The range is wide and it’s beautiful to see but the thing I mostly love to see is women 40 upwards representing on the dance floor. Owning the space, no inhibitions, feeling the music.

I loved seeing friendship groups of women that have clearly been dancing together since the 90s but also the girlies who made a whole new circle because the old ones “don’t go out anymore”

It’s always funny to me when people are surprised that “older” people “still” like going out? Like huh? We made this! 😂 Gen X don’t leave the dance floor and Gen X women aren’t leaving the dance floors, we built them!

The dance floor is my home and I’ll NEVER leave it.

Had a lovely evening down on @woodoaksfarm for the @shetrailspodcast movie night. 🍿🎥

First up we watched @acrossarmenia which follows amazing @katya.gva as she takes on 860km and 30,000m elevation for the FKT followed by It’s all Downhill from here, a short film which follows @trina_runs and I as we hike and run in the Italian Alps before taking part in TSP, talking about friendship and longevity in the outdoor space. 🍃🌞

After our films I had the pleasure of joining both Trina and Katya for a panel talk about our films.

Thanks to everyone that came and to @shetrailspodcast for having us 💛 by @notyouraverageglo
