POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Disabled Women Riot started as a resistance of disabled bodies, crippled hands and intertwined fingers of feminist care: Disabled resistance doesn’t lie in loud voices or physical protests. It starts with small, baby steps : it lies in self-realization and affirmation, in conversations with other disabled queer elders and siblings, in our crippled bones, in our movement or non-movement. In an able-bodied world, movement is the norm but within our disability affirming utopia’s, we can resist from anywhere : from our wheelchairs, from our hospital beds, from our chairs.

Join us for a workshop on Safe Access To Abortion For Disabled Folks on 15th February, 10am ICT at Bangkok, Thailand!

TRIGGER WARNING : Today we're not providing solutions. Today we're grieving. And asking questions we might never know the answers to, not in this lifetime at least. Are we ready to make space for grief, rage and hopelessness in the activist movement? Or do we need to be resilient all the time?

@disabledwomenriot says :

"16 days of activism beginns and 6 years later, all I have is a bunch of jargons to try and articulate the abuse I've gone through and organisations willing to pay me for making art around my trauma. Who am I if not a writer? Who am I if allow myself to be recognized by the abuse I've gone through? Is there any place for my abuse, my r*pe within Indian law? Is there a formula, a recipe, a code to describe disabled abuse? Is access to justice reserved only for certain people within the disability community, of a certain caste, religion, gender and sexuality? Are you more likely to receive legal aid if you're visibly disabled, and possess a medical certificate? Is the testimony of deaf women or those with speech disability considered credible?

How do we even begin to realise the myriad ways in which our agency and consent is violated every moment, every second, every hour, everyday just because we require help and support from others, so naturally dependency entails our bodies belong to the able-bodied world right? Was I asking for it when I requested the person at a party to button up my shirt just because my disabled hands are terrible at buttons? Or how my disability made me an easy target for men who supposedly "wanted to take care of me." How my disability made me submissive and fearful to displease the violent men I was with and so I would tailor my responses to their liking - something that I'm still unlearning. Can I make these statements in a court of law without being doubted, guilted and gaslighted a million times? Is there any place for disabled queer women in the #GBV discourse? Are we at the mercy of our caregivers, abusive partners, institutions and lawmakers who control our narrative, just as they control the functioning of our bodies?" by @nuatwork

Hello I'm back again ranting about ableism and trying to understand my place in this world better, even though no one cares aur "hume toh bas ek hee visibly disabled person ko invite karna hai kyunki token representation zaroori hai." Kaafi disillusionment ho rahi hai with this movement but for now let's get back to markers of agency on disabled queer bodies!

Conditional help :

As disabled queer folks, we depend on others for our livelihood. We survive and negotiate through dependence. We move ahead in life through community interdependence, and through interwoven histories of care. But what happens when dependence becomes hierarchical? What does asking for help, in this context, mean? Who has the privilege of asking for help, receiving help, extending help, and sustaining help? Who is perceived as dependable, and who is perceived as a recipient of help? What is their gender, what is their disability, what is their caste, what is their sexuality?

What happens when help is considered a transaction, and is done on the basis of certain conditions? Is this how the transaction of help and dependency works, amongst able-bodied and disabled people? Does this binary of help only extend between disabled and able-bodied folks, or does it include other folks with different disabilities as well? by @nuatwork

🫟RANTO-THERAPY HANGOUT

Your space, my space, our space — to connect, chat, express, emote, rant, release, and relieve yourself of anything and everything.

Saturday, October 17, 2026 | 6–7 PM IST
On Zoom with Nu, Rifath and Ritash

This space is being held ahead of the Asia Regional Convening, offering us a chance to come together, connect, and make room for whatever we might be carrying, feeling, thinking, or wanting to let out.

A space where you can laugh, cry, sigh, shout, or simply sit with whatever is coming up for you, without having to explain, justify, or make sense of any of it.

The growing list of ways to just be: scratch, massage, gently press or squeeze any part of yourself or anything else, pull or twirl your hair, bite your nails, inhale and exhale air or any substance, drink, munch silently or noisily or both, and do whatever helps you feel present in your own space.

Express yourself in whatever way feels right. Share through text, voice, music, verse, doodles, lines, colours, actions, dance, movement, or silence, because expression doesn’t have to follow a particular format or make sense to anyone else.

Agenda-free ranting means just ranting about anything. Bring your frustrations, random thoughts, overwhelming feelings, unfinished stories, everyday annoyances, big questions, or absolutely nothing in particular, with no pressure to find solutions, no expectation to be articulate, and no need to hold back.

Where we can connect without performing, listen without fixing, express without judgement, and make room for whatever shows up.

Come as you are, say what you need to say, feel what you need to feel, or simply be.

🌼Dear artivists and co-dreamers,

We’re inviting you to join us for an Artivism Café on Friday, 25 September, from 2:00–3:00 PM IST.

This will be a small, informal space to come together with artists, activists, cultural workers and storytellers from across Asia to explore Artivism, Memories and Community Wisdom.

We want to think about the knowledge and wisdom that movements hold, especially the intricate forms that often remain unseen. What do communities learn through organising, surviving, caring, resisting and creating? What is carried through oral histories, songs, rituals, relationships, language, memory and everyday practices?

This doesn’t need to be a tangible body of work. It could be an idea, a piece of wisdom, a creative practice, an oral history, a song, a ritual, or something that carries forward the memory of a movement.

After all, art can be anything that brings about change, or shows us possibilities for a future that is not here yet.

We’ll explore what stories and forms of artivism are being overlooked, what movement knowledge remains unseen, and what we might want to build together across Asia.

The conversation will feed into @globalartivism‘s Asia Regional Convening and Global Artivism Month in November, while helping us think about how the Global Artivism network can become a platform to visibilise your work and create possibilities for connection and collaboration.

The agenda will be shared shortly. For now, bring your stories, questions, community wisdom and dreams.

It's been 365 days. We're not going to pretend otherwise. 😅

Last #WorldSexualHealthMonth, we launched Through the Eyes of a Pleasure Activist, a series about the humans doing the deeply necessary work of putting pleasure back into sexual health, advocating for antiableist, queer, feminist, decolonial and anticapitalist approaches to the sector, and of questioning the very categories of 'health' and 'sexuality' and the work they do together. And then....well, we got busy saving the world in other ways.
Sorry / not sorry 😘

We're back with Episode 02, and it was worth the wait.

Meet Nu (they/them) - trans/non-binary disabled person advocating for pleasure and the founder of Revival Disability India @revivaldisabilityindia
Swipe to meet them properly - their story, their politics, and their passions.
The full interview drops soon. Follow so you don't miss it. 🔥

Setiap tubuh berhak atas pilihan!

Every Body Has the Right to Choose!

Reproductive justice can never be complete without fulfilling the sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) of persons with disabilities. Let’s discuss how disability justice and reproductive justice are interconnected by revisiting the realities, experiences, and challenges faced by persons with disabilities in asserting their bodily autonomy.

Through a cross-country collaboration with Revival Disability India and Perhimpunan Jiwa Sehat, we invite you to learn together about the intersections of disability, bodily autonomy, and the right to safe abortion within the contexts of each country.

This session will provide English–Indonesian interpretation and sign language interpretation.
