A behind-the-scenes look at the music in motion!Our Screen Scoring students recently had the opportunity to hear their work come to life in a reading session with the NYU Orchestra. We were honored to welcome Doug Katsaros to last week’s Composers Forum!A highly accomplished composer, arranger, orchestrator, keyboardist, and vocalist, Doug shared insights from a remarkable career spanning over six decades. From his work on platinum- and award-winning recordings with artists like Elton John, Bon Jovi, Frank Sinatra, Rod Stewart, Cher, Aerosmith, Gloria Estefan, and B. B. NYU Screen Scoring students and alumni were out in full force at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Diego!GDC continues to be a global hub for game developers—whether showcasing new work, exploring cutting-edge technology, or building meaningful collaborations. Our students took full advantage of the opportunity, connecting with developers from around the world, expanding their creative networks, and even landing new projects.It was especially exciting to hear how many ongoing collaborations and gigs actually started at past GDCs, proving that these moments of connection can lead to real, lasting opportunities.Beyond networking, students attended a wide range of insightful talks, diving into topics like game audio design, technical implementation, and team-building strategies from industry professionals. Today we were honored to welcome Jonathan Levi and Mel Marvin, frequent collaborators whose work spans has frequented Broadway.Mel Marvin is a celebrated composer with an extensive career writing music for dozens of musicals, plays, and operas, including "Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas," "Tintypes," and Broadway productions such as "Yentl."Jonathan Levi is a multifaceted novelist and lyricist whose collaborations with Mel have earned critical acclaim and helped shape several long-running theatrical works.Together, Jon and Mel led a songwriting masterclass for our students, including Zhije Zou and Luca Scoppetta-Stern (both pictured), offering thoughtful critiques, creative insight, and a glimpse into their collaborative process.We are grateful for their generosity, artistry, and the inspiration they shared with our community today!-------@nyusteinhardt @nyusteinhardtmpap -------#NYUScreenScoring #ComposersForum #SongwritingMasterclass #MusicForStageAndScreen #StudentSpotlight by @nyuscreenscoring
