Never stop breaking free. Never stop resisting. by @o_s_c_d

Been thinking about this horse recently. Since watching a play called The Horse of Jenin by @alaashehada_ which ends with a call to join in collective ownership and share its story, today seemed like a good day to do so. Without explanation the horse was ripped from its place by an Israeli bulldozer on 29th October 2023, (Jenin, West Bank). It was initially built from the debris of one of the many previous invasions. Its story is a reminder of the power of art practice and fear it creates in our oppressors. By trying to destroy and censor, they only amplified its message. Here is an image I made featuring the horse from November 2023. Happy new year, and eve of Ramadan kareem.

Black Hole Club Network: Workshop with Oscar Cass-Darweish @o_s_c_d
22nd of Jan 5:30 - 7:30 at BRIG Cafe

Black Hole Club Network returns for 2026 with a series of workshops!

In this first workshop Oscar will introduce his practice and recent work Observe Protocol, a project developed while in residence with Vivid Projects in 2025.

After highlighting ways that the present-day internet and mainstream digital platforms are failing us, he will demonstrate potentials for artistic practice to be useful to help navigate such realities and imagine alternatives.

Focusing on the value of offline networks, single purpose machines, and open-source DIY methods that can be applied in a variety of interdisciplinary projects.
A short practical activity that attendees can use laptops or phones to take part in will take place with an opportunity for reflections from the group.

The @ikonyouthprogramme will also be joining us :)

Hannah Sawtell and Oscar Cass-Darweish | Noise Scraper
Vivid Projects and BRIG Cafe
5th December | Digbeth, Birmingham
7:00 - 9:00pm

Noise Scraper is a collaboration that brings together our ongoing practices using browser-based tools that enable dynamic relationships between image and sound through audience-activated installations and performances.

In different ways we have been working around questions of access, aesthetics of digital representation and real-time data processing within parameters set using custom-built software. Oscar has recently produced work enabling alternative experiences of processes that underpin present day smartphone cameras, sensors and wireless connectivity. Hannah has been working on the production of an open source synth used for performance, while considering the labour embedded in image production, positioning the digital image as a site for extraction.

We will perform live at Vivid and BRIG Cafe, working with the newly developed Noise Scraper web application that samples visual data from images, video and live feeds as a form of inquiry into ways that machines make sense of visual information.
