Do you remember your first friend? Tell me about it! 👇 here's my story

My first friend after my accident was a really chill Persian kid named "Puyan" I was 12 years old and moved to a new school but knew most people, which means they knew the "before" me. And that caused for alot of awkwardness.

Puyan had only just met me. And he wandered over to me and after inquiring about my wheelchair and asking me questions about which cartoons I liked-- Imust've passed his sniff test, because he formally asked me to be besties. It really was that simple.

He started coming over to my house, and talking on the phone all day. Our friendship lasted until we went our separate ways for university. But I'll always remember the gift he gave me...

No not the cheesy gift of #friendship

But the gift of #acceptance
... He made me realize I can still be accepted even though I use a wheelchair. He didn't know me as any other way. So that realization gave me strength and self worth that carried over into my later years and I'll always be grateful for that evolution

SOUND ON! Narrated by Morgan Freeman, this is often what it's like to travel as someone with a mobility device.

We are often left out or an after thought. Bathrooms are not accessible for us, our wheelchairs get damaged and much more ...

We have the right to travel, and these things need to be fixed!

Aaron is an extreme wheelchair athlete who performs amazing stunts. He is also a badass extraordinaire.

His creativity and inclusion allows for representation. This is extremely important in that other people with disabilities are able to see someone with a disability on a huge stage; it is also important in that it shows the general population that people with disabilities or who use wheelchairs can do a lot of badass things and are perfectly capable of sheer badassery.

Bike lanes are MOBILITY LANES. We need this safe, reliable and accessible infrastructure for EVERYONE.

At the end of the day drivers, pedestrians and cyclists should be on the same side. We all just want to get to where we're going reliably and safely.

Also, please expand your perspective and consider these bike lanes are for everyone-- including those of us with disabilities and mobility challenges.

We both loved the documentary on @rickhansenofficial that premiered at The Toronto international Film Festival.

It was really well done and very bold in showing the actual day to day reality, the setbacks, and the physical and mental toll of taking on a monumental goal despite having a disability.

Rick perseveres and his legacy goes on to inspire millions and change countless lives. What a story!
