I’m thrilled to share my new article in the NewsHouse @newshouse about Coveted, an app by Syracuse University students that connects emerging clothing brands to the Syracuse community. Link in bio. I took the photo for the article as well.

Noticing how expensive ads are for smaller brands inspired SU junior Naheem Cadiz’s idea for Coveted. The app allows brands to sell their clothes, while shoppers can like, track, and directly buy clothes in the app.

Thank you to co-founder and CEO Naheem Cadiz, co-founder and CTO Noah Merhai, student entrepreneur Angelo Valenzuela Tobia, student and influencer Emily Gao, and student and Coveted content creator Gavin Morales for allowing me to interview you all. Check out my article to learn more about Coveted @covetedhq

I appreciate Life & Style Lead Producer Lily Silver for her helpful guidance.

I am excited to share my 6th article in the Daily Orange @dailyorange newspaper. Link in bio.

As a columnist and Health Beat Reporter in Opinion, my article is about doctors’ increasing interest in using AI. My opinion is that AI can be a supportive tool for doctors, but they should not solely rely on it to maintain patients’ trust, ensure medical accuracy, and preserve clinical skills. I discuss AI’s impact on note-taking, imaging reports and X-rays, and automating tasks.

Thank you to Dr. Jivan Lamichhane, a hospitalist at Upstate University Hospital @upstatemedical , for allowing me to interview you on the innovative capabilities of AI and also what to be cautious about with AI.

I enjoyed doing extensive research by reading published research papers and data from the American Medical Association. I quoted eye-opening articles on AI in medicine by Dr. Helen Ouyang and Dr. Rachael Bedard, as well as gained insight by reading Dr. Dhruv Khullar’s article.

As a pre-med student at Syracuse University in the BS/MD Program with SUNY Upstate Medical University and a dual major in biology and journalism, I learned a lot by exploring how AI impacts the field I plan to enter. @suartsciences @newhousesu @newhousemnd

I would love to hear your thoughts if you have the chance to read my article.

Thank you to Opinion editor Will Chadwick @willchadwick1 and assistant editors Dayna Roberts @daynalovespercy and Addyson Kimball @addysonkimball for your helpful guidance and feedback.

I enjoyed presenting my poster at the Honors Research Fair at Sadler Hall at Syracuse University on October 16th. @suhonors

I discussed the Mezu-Ndubuisi Lab’s development of nanoparticles as a safer drug delivery system to treat inflammation in the eye and the effects of Retinopathy of Prematurity, which is a blinding eye disease in premature infants.

I was born premature, weighing one pound, surviving against all odds, so it is incredibly fulfilling to share findings on research that could positively impact premature infants like me.

I am grateful to have contributed to literature review and abstract preparation as a co-author on my mom, Dr. Olachi Mezu-Ndubuisi’s abstract.

I also presented this research as a poster at Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) in May 2026 in Denver, Colorado funded by the Academic Enhancement Award from the Honors Program.

Thank you to my mom @millieolasoul for coming to Syracuse to support me and be present for my presentation as my P.I. and mentor.

It was inspiring to meet other student presenters and learn about their innovative research. Thank you to Assistant Director of the Honors Program Professor Andreea Mascan and the staff at the Honors Program for organizing this research fair to highlight the work students are doing across campus and beyond.

Thank you to the students, professors, and staff who listened to my presentation, asked great questions, and engaged in conversation.

I’m grateful to have been invited to speak on the Experiential Learning Student Panel in front of alumni in Dean Mortazavi’s Advisory Board for the College of Arts and Sciences @suartsciences on October 16th. Three students and I shared how our research, internships, and extracurriculars are shaping our experience at Syracuse University @syracuseu .

I discussed how Syracuse University allows me to explore my diverse interests between medicine, journalism, and film through my Video Internship with the A&S/Maxwell School Admissions Office, my time as a Production Assistant in France for the WWII Foundation through Newhouse School @newhousesu , being a reporter for the Daily Orange and the NewsHouse newspapers, and more.

The alumni and panel moderator Mr. Matt Wheeler asked us questions such as why we chose Syracuse University and how freshman year differs from our current year at SU.

Thank you to the alumni for kindly taking the time to meet us and listen to our SU experience. I greatly appreciated staff and alumni’s encouraging comments to me and the great conversations I had with them afterward, including alumna Ms. Linda Dulye, alumnus Mr. Ron Gill, and A&S Directors of Development Mr. Kyle Mitchell and Mr. Adrian Mitchell.

Thank you to Director of Employer & Alumni Engagement Mr. Matt Wheeler for moderating the panel and inviting us for this amazing opportunity. Thank you to my fellow student panelists Max Lachut, Christine Gibson, and Ava Swidler for sharing your unique perspectives and experiences.

It was an honor to be invited to speak on a panel in support of Point of Contact in front of Chancellor Mike Haynie @chancellorhaynie during his visit on October 14th to La Casita Cultural Center, which advances an educational and cultural agenda of civic engagement. After a tour of the space, Chancellor Haynie sat down for a conversation about the impact of @lacasitacultural and @pointofcontact.puntodecontacto on the student experience at @syracuseu and in the community.

Thank you Chancellor Haynie for taking the time to visit La Casita and your interest in having a conversation with the staff, students, and volunteers on the positive impact of La Casita on the Syracuse community and beyond. Thank you to the La Casita Executive Director Ms. Tere Paniagua @terepaniagualatimer for inviting me to speak about my positive experience with Point of Contact, which is a nonprofit arts organization that bridges disciplines through public programs.

I spoke about my experience as a featured poet at Point of Contact’s Cruel April Poetry Reading on April 8th at the Syracuse University Art Museum alongside SU Professor Stephen Kuusisto @stevekuusisto and NYU Professor Urayoán Noel @uranol . We are all poets with disabilities and recited our poetry in front of the “Possible Worlds” art exhibit featuring artists with disabilities to show how disability uniquely enhances our perspective.

SU professors, staff, and students attended the poetry reading, engaging the community in conversation. This opportunity enhanced my student experience by allowing me to share my story through an interview, which will be published in Point of Contact’s upcoming volume of “Corresponding Voices” along with 10 of my poems.

I’m excited to share my first published article in The NewsHouse @newshouse and my sixth published piece at Syracuse University @syracuseu . Link in bio.

My article is about the Onondaga Nation’s Indigenous Peoples Day Festival held on Saturday to celebrate Indigenous culture with the greater Syracuse community. At the festival, I interviewed Indigenous vendors, performers, featured artists, and attendees. I also took the photo for the story.

I recently joined the NewsHouse as a writer in their Off-Campus and Life & Style sections, and I look forward to writing for the NewsHouse again. I appreciate the News Lead Producer Sophia Brownsword for her guidance.

Recapping the first month of my sophomore year at Syracuse University @syracuseu 🍊:

It was lovely to meet actress and singer Victoria Justice @victoriajustice, who led an inspiring conversation as the headliner of @universityunion’s Latine Heritage Month Event. I was selected to ask her a question during the event, and she said that she liked my question. Swipe to the end to see a fun video of Victoria saying her famous line, and a video of me asking her my question.

It was great to meet Kiernan Liberman @kiernanliberman, a founding member of @crewdog.co, which is one of my favorite sweatshirt brands. It’s a funny coincidence that I was wearing it and met him at Schine that day. 😂

I enjoyed interviewing University of Rochester ophthalmologist Dr. Christine Coward for my medical documentary on artists with disabilities. More photos coming soon.

As an @americanhigh Development Intern, I’m learning so much by writing coverage for scripts and giving feedback that directly influences production decisions.

As an RA, I’ve already held multiple events for the residents on my floor, and I look forward to organizing more events this semester.

I was invited to take photos for Creations Dance Company @creationsdanceco, and it was fun to experiment with a style of photography new to me.

I enjoyed taking photos for @project315su’s first fashion photoshoot of the semester.

As a Video Intern for the Admissions Office for A&S/Maxwell School, it was great to interview senior Sophie DeCristofaro on her experience as an A&S student.

I published an opinion piece in the @dailyorange in September about my belief that art can be a therapeutic coping mechanism for people with disabilities. I always enjoy working with and learning from the DO Opinion Editing team.

I appreciated joining DO Opinion editor Will, assistant editor Addy, and 2 other columnists to speak to a WRT 105 class on The Daily Orange. I discussed the research and brainstorming process behind my health article on healthy coping mechanisms for stress.

I was a lector at Mass at the Catholic Center last week, where I read the introduction and the first reading. I look forward t by @olaroseofficial

This past weekend, I enjoyed participating in the Coronat Oswegatchie Camping Trip with other Coronats in my merit scholarship program. It was two relaxing days of making friends, connecting with nature, and trying new things. 🏕️

After eating dinner on Friday, we went on a night hike in the woods. We listened to ghost stories and learned more about Oswegatchie history. The night ended with conversations and games around a campfire. 🔥

On Saturday, students worked together in low ropes and high ropes team-building activities. My favorite ropes course was the Mohawk Walk, where we had to support each other as we walked across a tightrope. On the bus ride back to campus, we stopped for snacks and ice cream. 🍦

Thank you to the Oswegatchie staff and SU student leaders for organizing the activities. Thank you to Dr. Machia, Assistant Dean Anderson, and all the staff members involved in coordinating the trip.

I am incredibly grateful to be in the Coronat Scholar program, which has given me a new community of driven, hardworking, and fun friends, membership in the Honors Program @suhonors, and positively enhanced my experience at Syracuse University @syracuseu.

Sharing more photos from Chancellor Haynie’s Investiture Ceremony at Syracuse University @syracuseu yesterday, where I was grateful to be invited to recite an original poem as the 2024-2025 New York State Youth Poet Laureate. You can watch my poetry performance in my previous post. Thank you Chancellor Haynie for the opportunity to be a part of this historic and beautiful ceremony.

I enjoyed attending the Pre-Investiture Luncheon with my mom, where we were seated at Chancellor Haynie’s table.

I appreciated speaking with @newhousesu Dean Lodato, @suartsciences Dean Mortazavi, @whitmanatsu Dean Emeritus Melvin Stith, Chair of the @newhouse_trf Department Professor Goenka, @cusepics Director of Athletics Bryan Blair, SU Athletics host and reporter Sean Dorcellus, Barnes Center Director of Recreation Facilities and Programs Seneca Wilson, and more.

It was lovely to get to know the two fellow students on stage with me, Student Government Association President @cusesga Emily Castillo-Melean who gave remarks, and Army ROTC Cadet sophomore Frank Caravita who sang the national anthem.

After the ceremony, my mom and I enjoyed food and games at Orange Fest in the Dome.

It was an honor to be invited by Chancellor Mike Haynie @chancellorhaynie to write and recite an original poem for his Inauguration and Investiture as the 13th Chancellor and President of Syracuse University @syracuseu on September 18, 2026 in the JMA Wireless Dome.

As the 2024-2025 New York State Youth Poet Laureate, this was my biggest performance yet, and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to commemorate such an important moment.

In the spring semester, I met Chancellor Haynie coincidentally as I was walking into the Whitman School of Management @whitmanatsu to interview students for an article I was writing about him. I could have never guessed that this positive interaction would lead to me being able to contribute to such a historic moment now.

Thank you Chancellor Haynie for giving me this opportunity and platform. I appreciate your dedication to getting to know students and involving them in your vision.

I appreciated the support of faculty and deans such as @newhousesu Dean Lodato @deanmarklodato and @suartsciences Dean Mortazavi.

In my poem “A Leader for Our Future,” these are some of my favorite lines:

“Syracuse University isn’t only about the person who leads it. It’s about the Orange and who bleeds it.”

“The future is not a permanent space we step into, but an ever-changing home we build together.”

Aligning with my poem, students, alumni, committee members, and more made remarks showing their collective pride for the University, hopes moving forward, and a desire to work toward a future together.

Thank you so much to my mom, Dr. Olachi Mezu-Ndubuisi @millieolasoul , for driving to Syracuse to support me today and for always being my biggest cheerleader.

I’m thrilled to share my 5th published piece in the Daily Orange! My personal essay is about my belief that art can be a therapeutic coping mechanism for people with disabilities. It is inspired by my use of creative outlets to positively express my pain when I was diagnosed with scoliosis at age 14. Link in bio.

I discuss how my experience motivated me to create a medical documentary, highlighting my interviews with artists living with disabilities in the U.S. and France and my research on how cataracts affected famous painter Claude Monet’s art style.

I believe we all have invisible struggles that no one can fully understand. I hope reading my essay can inspire others to try using creative outlets to release their emotions, communicate their challenges, and connect with others.

Thank you to the @dailyorange opinion team, especially opinion editor Will Chadwick and assistant editor Dayna Roberts for your guidance and help in the editing process.
