A collaborative series of interviews as part of 𝗼𝗿𝗯𝗶𝘁.

orbit sphere inhabits a space for the processes and evolving thoughts of artists, researchers, writers, and individuals across disciplines, serving both as a habitat and a record of ideas in motion.

Like the people it features, the series expands, experiments, and explores how conversation and collaboration can become a shared habitat.

Each episode highlights not only practices and projects, but also the questions, uncertainties, and ongoing processes that shape them.

𝗼𝗿𝗯𝗶𝘁, a platform inhabiting the intersections of art, design, science, and text through publishing and exhibitions, is launching a new project: 𝗼𝗿𝗯𝗶𝘁 𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀.

This project explores artists, individuals, and their works through forms that move between review, criticism, notes, and reflection. Observational writings, together with related materials, references, and thoughts, will be shared as an evolving record of encounter.

The screening concept takes the well as a starting point, thinking through its vertical and horizontal associations. Vertically, it considers the well as a space of depth, descent, and looking inward. Horizontally, it follows the concrete surface of a well, on the former Nuss Brunnen Feld, and the flow of water extending toward the port, the sea, and the horizon beyond.

The works in the program engage with these relationships through different distances between the body, nature, objects, and architecture, as well as through different ways of looking and sensing space. The screening will take place within the space of Walnut Well itself, so the site and its architectural surfaces will also become part of the viewing experience.

orbit is an international and interdisciplinary platform for exhibition and publication, extending across conversations, interviews, research, and other forms of exchange, founded and directed by Rio Usui.
From autumn 2026, orbit will be hosted by Walnut Well, where it will develop and present a series of activations and cultural events.

As an epilogue to orbit sphere #3, we exchanged fragments of our neighboring environments in Tokyo and Vienna through a poster, photographs, and observational texts.
Inspired by Moyra Davey’s Raw Material practice, this project explores how analogue materials can be transformed and archived in digital form through the slow process of airmail correspondence.

Boarding pass: escape, release, (self)redemption

Is leaving a place the end of a journey, or its beginning? Holding a boarding pass, moving from one place to another, bringing a conversation to an end. Or is it not we ourselves who choose the conversations we engage in, but rather the language itself that chooses for us?

At the end of the continuous conversation in orbit sphere #3, the movement passes from the window, through the corridor, and finally toward the outside.
The act of moving from inside a building to the outside may also parallel a movement beyond the boundaries of the self.
