Life has been full of surprises lately 💎🌴 by @oscarnx_

Long birthday post incoming...
From Twen🫖 7 in 🇵🇹 to 28 in 🇮🇹— this year has held the highest of highs and the lowest of lows.

I’ve decided that my word for the year is GRATITUDE.

It’s still hard to believe all this happened in just one year. Literally a year ago, I was living one of the happiest moments of my life — celebrating in the Azores, surrounded by nature, traveling to places I had always dreamed of visiting. I experienced my first-ever Olympic Games, which reignited my passion to train hard for what would become my first IPSF World Championships. The results? Incredible — including a 🥇.

But just when everything felt perfectly aligned — when I felt unstoppable — life threw me a curveball. I had an accident, broke my ankle, and fell into a deep well of sadness and uncertainty. I faced my first surgery and all the mental and emotional challenges that come with a serious injury. I felt fragile, lost, like everything I’d worked so hard for was slipping through my fingers.

But when you hit rock bottom, the only way forward is up.
That’s when gratitude became everything.

I started thanking life for what I still had. I couldn’t stand on my feet, but I could still stand on my hands. I could still do so much more than I imagined. I felt immense gratitude for my body, for my mind — both my PT and my circus brain. For my family and close friends who never left my side. For my coworkers and the incredible company I work with, who kept me engaged with projects even while I was away from the ships.

Full circle moment ⭕️

The concept of time itself it’s simply shocking, it’s hard to believe that just a few months ago I was laying on a surgical bed to get my ankle reconstructed and now I’m about to embark into a new adventure, looking back into these last months evokes nothing but pure happiness in my heart, I think that sometimes life just stops you when you have to even if it doesn’t make any sense for you in that moment, I feel so grateful for all the people I have in my life: my family, my life-long-lasting friends, the new people I met during this hard times and who I can now call good friends.

I’ve definitely change my perspective about home and it has a much more deep meaning now.

I wouldn’t say that breaking my ankle was a blessing but I can assure you now, it thought me more of life and resiliency than I ever imagined.

Thank you life for all the lessons, for allowing me the time I didn’t know I was needing, thank you for the people who trusted me with their health even when mine was not so good looking at the beginning (yes I got to see patients while I was still on crutches 🩼), thank you for allowing me to keep helping people out, thank you for allowing to get back into performing, and for showing I’m still capable to do so many more things.

Here’s to new beginnings, new adventures, more travels and much more memories to be made 🌍 ✈️❤️ by @oscarnx_

$Guess who’s f*ing back!? What a journey this has been, hard to believe it has been only 4 months since the accident, it feels like a million years has passed since Nov 5th. Words cannot express my happiness of coming back at training (not a 100% yet but working on it). If this has taught me something is patience and resilience, it has broader my understanding of injuries and all the mental aspects that comes with it and let me tell you something being in the other side of the coin is not easy an easy task! (Yes, we’re all vulnerable and change starts by recognizing it) I feel like I’ve learned so much about my self, both as human and physio, tracking healing times, planning and dosing ExRx and other treatment modalities for yourself it’s crazy hard but not impossible and even enjoyable when you are lucky enough to have the incredible support system I had which I cannot thank enough, from family, friends and coworkers everyone played a key role during this recovery period (which I know is not over yet). Much love to you all ❤️‍🩹 Ps: This is not me saying that if you had a fracture similar than mine you should be doing exactly the same exercises at the exact same times, don’t let social media fool you, there’s a lot more that has taken place in between the accident and where I am at now, please always work with a rehab professional/physio when an injury occurs, we do know some stuff that might be super helpful and can get you closer to your recovery/training goals. If you have any questions about recovering from an ankle fracture or would like me to help you out with the recovery from injury or to tackle some lingering pain, send me a message, I’m more than happy to talk about how we can work together. And that’s it ppl thanks for reading through this, stay active 🪂🏋🏽 cheers 🦴 ✨ by @oscarnx_$

Memories from when we thought was a good idea to go to an ICEBAR in a city where the weather was already freezing cold 🥶

No regrets tho ❄️ by @oscarnx_

📍 Stockholm, Sweden 🇸🇪 (2024)

Honestly today I woke up a bit nostalgic, but going through pictures from my last trip of 2024 picked me up and helped me remember that this is just a small break before I start exploring the world again.

Cheers for joyful memories and the pictures that help us remember good times. by @oscarnx_

2024, WHAT A YEAR! 🎊

It’s hard to believe everything what happened throughout this year, even though I’m not finishing the year as I expected, I believe that life puts you WHERE you need to be WHEN you need to. Breaking my ankle was just the plot twist of my 2024.

From starting the year feeding kangaroos in the other side of the world to completing my first round around the globe 🌎, exploring at least 8 new countries to coming back home to participate and win the pole nationals in two categories with @aeropolemx, to spending my birthday in an incredible island in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, to experience my first ever Olympic Games in Paris and many musicals/ shows around the world, to a short contract on a ship where I got to meet a couple incredible humans who are truly inspiring and I have the pleasure to work with @cmj027 and @sassyatc; to coming back home and share some knowledge with a workshop on the Uni I graduated from a few years ago, to train in my second home for this year @yaaxpole (I love you all ❤️‍🔥) and after going to Sweden to participate in the IPSF WPAC winning two world medals 🥇🥉 and finishing the year with the company of my family which I didn’t spend much time with for the last couple years.

Definitely grateful for an incredible year, including the accident, everything was part of the journey.

Much love to you all, best wishes to you wherever in the world you are 🪅💝 by @oscarnx_

Places I’ve been on this planet and never post about #2 🌎

One of my favorite memories of all times because I met my sister from another mother @maramaldonadoo and so many incredible friends from Spain.

Surprisingly this was exactly 3 years ago today and honestly still can’t believe the beautiful views I got to experience everywhere I went to here, can’t wait to go back! 🫶🏼

IPSF WPAC 2024 🇸🇪

First day back in Mexico and I still cannot stop thinking about how incredible this experience was, it really was a dream and still can’t believe the outcome of it.

This was my very first time participating on a world pole championship and I was honored to win the 🥉 place in artistic pole 18+ and the 🥇 place in Doubles M/M.

There’s so much more of what you can see behind those 4 minutes on stage, a lot of time, effort, training and people involved who played a key role on each performance.

I can’t thank the team from @yaaxpole enough; it really felt like a second home for me, thanks to the best dupla @charlyvzla for believing in me and trusting me even with the limited amount of time we had to train and prepare everything. @karyvilliers the incredible make up artists who helped us look amazing in each performance but also was there every time I needed her, to dry up my tears multiple times and give the extra encouragement I needed to go through this.

This event was really meaningful for me and not only reassured my love for this discipline but helped me overcome my fears and insecurities.

Meeting all the incredible performers and athletes from around the globe who participated on the competition not only inspired me but ignited on me the desire to keep training (harder) and creating more art.

The national anthem of your country definitely hits different when you’re in that podium 🇲🇽❤️‍🔥

thank you @ipsf_sports and @aeropolemx for helping this sport and community to keep growing.
