SHILHA VOL. 02 BY OUELLA OUT NOW!

FEATURING EL NASHMY AND A REMIX BY P3RY

3-track, bass-loaded, club-ready EP from our Moroccan-Egyptian brother. With SHILHA VOL. 01 dropping on the Egyptian label @moshtrq at the end of last year, this collaboration feels like a true full-circle Casa-Cairo connection kind of moment.

Taking it home with heavy influences from Amazigh heritage, the EP is drenched in unapologetically bassy and danceable sounds and a reminder that something can be hard, real and entertaining. Sometimes it just makes sense, and this is one of those times. As always, we are grateful for the trust.

About SHILHA:

Shilha traces the lines between Amazigh musical identity and the evolving vocabulary of contemporary bass culture. Blending elements of dubstep, UK bass, and garage, Shilha positions tradition and futurity not as opposites, but as interwoven forces within Ouella’s artistic landscape.

The project takes its name from Shilha, a Berber (Amazigh) language spoken in southwestern Morocco, grounding the release in personal and regional lineage. For Ouella — who comes from a Moroccan Amazigh background — the title is less a label and more a frame, an entry point into the textures, rhythms, and emotive aesthetics that shape the two tracks.

Where many club producers draw loosely from global folk motifs, Shilha operates with intention: Amazigh and Moroccan chaabi rhythmic sensibilities are not sampled or referenced but reinterpreted through the architecture of rolling basslines, swung percussion, and low-end pressure.

The result is a sound that is neither purist nor hybrid for the sake of hybridity — instead, it is a study in translation, memory, and groove. “These tracks come from a place that feels both familiar and rebuilt,” Ouella says. “I wanted to carry the energy of the sounds I grew up with — the pulse of Amazigh and Moroccan street music — into the bass-heavy spaces that shaped me later on.

It’s about honoring what formed me and reshaping it with the tools I have now.” Across the two pieces, Shilha leans into subtle polyrhythms, tactile drum design, and a bass presence that’s more rolling than aggressive. Its club sensibility is clear, but so is its cultural anchoring: a celebration of Amazigh identity that resists nostalgia and instead imagines new possibilities for what diasporic electronic music can sound like. by @ouellaaaaa

The last heatwave of the season to the airwaves with 9 incredible talents and emerging sounds from around the world, from Lebanon to Morocco, Germany to Mexico, all connecting through Alexandria, Egypt.

We’re starting with something special from our lovely friend @fathalla.lp Gheir Elhob is his debut EP, exploring what comes after love, longing, nostalgia, escape, confusion, and the search for something else. For Ward, he’s also bringing exclusive new tracks and an unreleased single, all sound-designed and produced by himself.

Then we slow things down with our resident @radioamorr , returning with heavenly tunes and beautiful Arabic vocals, before @karamellmusic takes us somewhere else with a live set of Egyptian electronic sounds from his own productions.

Casablanca-born @ouellaaaaa follows with rhythm, bass and percussion, bringing his Moroccan and Amazigh roots into high-pressure club energy.

We’ve also been waiting for this one: @cherrychills_ finally takes her self-produced live project out of the bedroom and into the world. Built from her own productions and experiments, we’re proud to have one of its first broadcasts right here on Ward.

@eshkounjayofficiel comes back with his show Eshkounjay International Flight and invites @djbarbarella_ the Tunisian-born, Mexico City-based DJ, producer and visual artist. Together, they travel between Arabic music, Latin rhythms, techno, disco, acid, jazz, funk and worlds in between. From the medinas to the underground, this flight is taking us somewhere between everywhere and nowhere at once.

Our Alexandria family member and sound master @a1musiic takes over next, connecting familiar and unexpected sounds with no fixed formula, just a flow built for the moment.

@x_oec , Egyptian-raised and Germany-based, brings UK sounds, hardgroove, Egyptian and Brazilian influences together for a high-energy journey across cultures and tempos.

And to close this very hot night, we’re celebrating an emerging talent we’re genuinely excited about: @heemoooooo_ Born and based in Cairo, the DJ and producer brings sweaty grooves and raw energy.

Nine different worlds. One radio. No borders.

For this Select mix, ouella delivers an unrelenting, high-energy session packed with club-ready cuts, eschewing downtime in favour of relentless drums, heavy kicks, and propulsive rhythms. Offering a glimpse into his current sonic direction, the set also features a handful of unreleased productions fresh from the studio, resulting in a percussive, rhythm-driven journey built with the dancefloor firmly in mind.
