The GROW Apprenticeship Program is officially underway!

We’re one week in, and the seeds have officially been planted for a season of learning, growing, and building community.

Through the GROW Apprenticeship Program, participants have the opportunity to learn alongside farmers, growers, agricultural professionals, and local farms who are helping shape the next generation of agricultural leaders through hands-on training, demonstrations, mentorship, and shared knowledge.

Because this program is about more than learning how to farm. It’s about building relationships, transferring knowledge, creating opportunities, and strengthening our local food system for generations to come

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing a series of updates from the program—following our participants as they learn new skills, gain hands-on experience, and continue to GROW 🌱

Sistrunk Seeds is expanding local aggregation, cold storage (for 1,500+ lbs of pantry staples and produce weekly), and green spaces. Partnering with amazing organizations like Urban Health Partnerships, Food & Nutrition for All, Buddy System MIA, Urban Oasis Project, and OCYC, our Agriplex delivers 500+ fresh meals monthly, targets 40,000 lbs overall, and supports 450+ participants through free nutrition and gardening programs. 🥗🥕

We noticed new faces and want to say, Welcome to Sistrunk Seeds 💚

Our roots began in Sistrunk in Broward, where growing food turned into something much bigger: growing community, creating access, sharing knowledge, supporting wellness, and planting seeds for the next generation.

Today, Sistrunk Seeds is more than a farm 🌱

We are an urban farm, food aggregation hub, and community education center. We grow produce, aggregate fresh food from a regional network of farm partners, distribute to the community, and run workforce development and educational programming that builds lasting food literacy across Miami-Dade County.

Through our farm, The People’s Pantry, community partnerships, and programs, we’re working to create greater access to:

🥬 Fresh food & food distributions

🍳 Nutrition & cooking education

🧘🏾‍♀️ Fitness & wellness experiences

🌱 Gardening & sustainability workshops

👩🏾‍🌾 Youth internships & workforce development

👕 Clothing & essential resources

🤝 Mutual aid and community support

💚 Spaces for connection, nourishment & healing

And none of this work happens alone.

Alongside organizations like Buddy System MIA, Eat Well Exchange, Camillus Health Concern, Lion Farms, Urban Oasis Project, Touching Miami With Love, and a growing network of volunteers, donors, neighbors, students, and supporters, we’re planting seeds designed to impact our communities for generations.

A glance back at Sustento Diario (Daily Sustenance) at @pamm Good food, good music, meaningful conversations, and even better community 💚

We loved joining @urban_oasis_project, @buddysystemmia and friends for an evening centered around food, culture, memory & connection.

We’re looking for farmers, growers, agricultural professionals, and farms who want to help shape the next generation of agricultural leaders through our GROW Apprenticeship Program.

👩🏽‍🌾 Are you a farmer or agricultural professional?

Become a GROW Mentor and share your knowledge, skills, and real-world experience with an emerging farmer.

🚜 Do you operate a farm or agricultural site?
Become a GROW Host Site and provide apprentices with hands-on experience in a real agricultural environment.

💰 Mentor pay starts at $30/hour
⏰ Minimum commitment: 10 hours per week

🌱 Opportunities to teach, train, demonstrate, and support the development of the next generation of growers.

We’re especially looking for experienced professionals with 5+ years of experience in agriculture and food systems.

This program is about more than teaching farming, it’s about building relationships, transferring knowledge, creating opportunities, and strengthening our local food system. 💚

🌱 GROW Apprenticeship Update! 🌱

Our inaugural GROW Apprenticeship Program collaboration with @thecommonsnetwork is taking off, the application period is officially CLOSED! To date, we’ve gotten SO MANY applications that we'll have more info later on waitlist options! 🎉

Thank you to everyone who applied and shared their interest in growing with us. We’re excited to announce our selected inaugural candidates on September 5th via email. 💚

But we’re not done growing! 🌿

✨ FARM MENTOR APPLICATIONS OPEN SEPTEMBER 1ST! ✨

We’re looking for experienced agricultural professionals who:
🌱 Have 5+ years of agricultural experience
🌱 Can commit to at least 10 hours per week🌱 Want to share their knowledge, skills, and experience with the next generation of growers

💰 Pay starts at $30/hour
📅 Initial mentor commitment: 8 weeks
🌾 Opportunity to continue beyond the initial cohort

We were proud to join @urban_oasis_project and @buddysystemmia at the Pérez Art Museum Miami @pamm for Sustento Diario (Daily Sustenance) a participatory culinary experience exploring migration, memory, and identity.
