Rather than adopting the typical language of modern townhouse developments, Shelley Street draws directly from the suburb’s industrial past.

On this corner parcel, we designed nine townhouses of three storeys, each with rooftop balconies — we applied a vertical living approach to make the most out of our site while giving each home its own street frontage and private laneway entry.

What if the site’s oldest residents curated the masterplan?

At Kingloch Parade, the site's protected trees became the framework for an entirely new neighbourhood. Completed in collaboration with @_sl_ab_, paths, homes and communal spaces were carefully arranged around the existing landscape, creating a walkable community that’s defined by a generous canopy of mature gum trees.

Mid-century architecture precedents provide a quiet backdrop, with sawtooth roofs and sandy brickwork sitting comfortably beneath leafy shadows as the sun moves throughout the day.

A home shaped around what was already there.

Clad in shou sugi ban-inspired charred timber, Lot 9 has a quieter, more sculptural presence. Its curved façade responds to the existing tree at the front — shaping the architecture around the landscape, rather than removing it.

A more thoughtful way to live together.

A clip from Kingloch Parade, featured in The Local Project — our award-winning 51-home community in Wantirna, completed in 2025.

For us, one of the proudest moments was seeing people who contributed feedback at the very beginning return to the completed project and say it was better than they had imagined.

A reminder of what medium-density housing can be when landscape, community and a sense of belonging are considered from the start. #madebyozproperty by @ozproperty

Sawtooth roofs, industrial-style glazing, and brick facades make playful reference to Richmond’s heritage warehouse sites.

Shelley St serves as a modern townhouse that cleverly embraces its past to serve a strong character on the streetscape.
