Hi guys! Surprise! I’m actually still alive! I know I keep falling off the face of the earth, so here’s more about how I’ve been slowly decomposing, some of my recent exciting accomplishments, and a little more about the art shared this post. (About both the first slide, and the other WIPs / some animations I have up my sleeve. Although actually, I have no sleeves. I live in tank tops. Yes, even when it snows.)
MY SLOW DECOMPOSITION:
Read the above knowing that I have a humorous tone, but laughter is my coping mechanism. Because while I joke about it, it’s actually been pretty hard. I’m not sure whether it was sparked by the stress of my dad’s cancer diagnosis, depression, or any number of undiagnosed conditions, but I’ve really been struggling with chronic fatigue. As in many—sometimes most—days I’ll be curled up on my floor, for hours at a time, just searching for the energy to move. It’s frustrating because I’m a very goal-driven person with high expectations for myself, and when I can’t meet them, when I fall behind, it’s hard not to feel like a failure. It also means the number of commissions I’ve been taking has drastically decreased, which is bad for my self esteem and wallet but good for my health and artistic inspiration. But wait…
I’VE ALSO ACCOMPLISHED SOME THINGS!
-first and most importantly…I finished writing Birds of Prey! 🎉🥳🎊 So my dinosaur wild west story is officially finished ahhhh!
-I’ve also started editing it eee! Editing feels like it takes more thought and energy than drafting, and it’s been going muuuuch slower than it should be. But I think that’s just the reality of my life with fatigue. 🤷
-I started an art business YouTube channel! I love art, business, and helping people, so I smushed them all together. My channel is @ ama.semper if you want to check it out. *winkwink*

You know you’re working hard at processing when you write a book about it. 😂 I’m sorry you’ve been having such a hard time - you’ve accomplished SO much lately, though!! And that’s only the things I’ve seen you doing online! You’re doing a great job. :D

[2/2 continued in comments] . OTHER PROJECTS I’ve included some pictures of WIPs and snippets of other projects I’m working on! They mostly revolve around Birds of Prey (BOP). 2️⃣new panel from the large BOP animation project (anatomy goes brrrr and also why can’t I be as buff as Beau) 3️⃣character lineup WIP for BOP (from left to right: Burn and her a seven foot hunk of muscle, Kitridge Rose, Beau and her 5’3” miniature small self, Ycel and the Zhred.) (Also I can make fun of Beau because I too am five foot three, and my friends regularly have to get dishes for me and hide candy canes where I can’t reach them. They’re the best I love them.) 4️⃣old Kitridge Rose WIP (usually on the outside she’s a ray of sunshine but she’s scolding Beau about something here) 5️⃣new-ish Ycel WIP (my other emotionally suppressed child who needs therapy) 6️⃣OLD ART WOW an animation WIP of Burn (eventual villain in BOP) as she has a sad tragic backstory moment watching her town burn to ground and then gets dragged away to be forcibly inserted into the local cult (don’t worry its for her own good and she won’t come away emotionally traumatized at allllll hahaha (/s) 7️⃣my new dino sona WIP! I’ve been playing Path of Titans and alio is my baby 8️⃣Birds of Prey logo because I want to eventually make webcomics for them (hahahaha let me find my will to function normally first) 9️⃣I cannot draw backgrounds pt. 1 (Burn’s pterosaur-head shaped mountain where she and the pterosaur riding outlaws rule.) 🔟I cannot draw backgrounds pt. 2 (loop animation WIP of Beau and Sorrow) . OKAY WHEW that was the most chaotic thing I’ve ever written so if you stayed for all that 1) here are you cookies 🍪🍪🍪 and 2) I want to hear about your life now! I’ve blabbed enough, so what art / writing projects are you working on, and how have you been recently?

[1/?? continued in comments] . ACCOMPLISHMENTS CONT -I also started an animation channel! (@ ama.semper_studios) And honestly guys…this is a dream come true. I’ve been wanting to bring my characters to life through animation since I was eleven or twelve. I haven’t completed any major projects yet, but the fact that I’ve taken this step, the fact that I’ve STARTED, would make small me cry. I have like threeee more panels to finish for my big animatic project, and then some polishing, but I’ve probably been working on it intermittently for half a year at this point so hoping that I can finish it soon. 🙏 -I made a new IG for my Etsy shop, @beardiebeastsandbone ! It’s all about shouting a mental HECK NO TO YOU to people who call us weird for liking reptiles, collecting bones, and enjoying the creepy crawlies, and instead celebrating the passions that bring us joy. ☺️💖✨ -I started plotting a short story that will eventually be published in an anthology! -And finally, I started Year Two of my college alternative for authors. (I think I’m behind already. Oops. 😅) . ABOUT THE ART Guys I am TERRIBLE in how I’ll internalize and suppress anything negative that I’ll feel. I will look you straight in the eyes and smile and laugh and joke, walk upstairs, and break down as soon as I’m alone. I guess someone along the way I internalized that negative feelings are bad, and you should try not to feel them. “Take your happy pills,” basically. But I’ve learned that cramming everything in your mental closet only makes things worse, and I’m trying to get better as processing how I feel. Trying so hard in fact, I wrote a book about it! 😆 . In Birds of Prey, each dinosaur is the manifestation of an emotion. The dino in this picture is Sorrow, a dromeosaur that the MC, Beau, is intent on…you know… 🔫🔪🩸🩸😬 Also, there miiiight a pill in development that can keep you from feeling certain emotions you don’t want to feel, and Beau is determined to get her grubby little fingers on it. Thank goodness she has totally good, 100% non suspicious outlaw-un-inclined friends that she’ll listen to and totally won’t leave because of her abandonment issues…right? RIGHT??
