This one was for you Renee 💕 So last summer when my friend Aaron told me about the auditions for a production at Black Spectrum Theatre I was thrilled to find out that the show would focus on Mae Jemison and how she was impacted by watching Lieutenant Uhura on Star Trek. My mom loved Star Trek! She definitely took pride in calling herself a Treky 🖖🏾! And she had all of the original seasons on dvd. So the minute I heard Star Trek, I knew this was no coincidence. She would have been too geeked to come and see the show wearing her Star Trek jean shirt. I miss you more than words can express. But I find joy in knowing you’d be proud that I took a chance on myself. That I’ve stepped out of my comfort zone and met amazingly beautiful people and made wonderously magnificent memories…. All because I followed my dream. Love you Mom and you were right every little thing is gonna be alright 😌 💫
