Speaking with our correspondent @agirlfromharlem at an event he hosted last night, Pap said some of the greatest artists never get their shine because people in positions of power intentionally hold them back while pushing less talented artists as better.

He added that the most skillful artists get hated on the most, and that it’s not about materialism. “Some people hate you because of your aura. They hate the effect you got when you walk in the room.”

And if you want a feature, he says he has to hear and like your music first. “I don’t just take people money.”

We’ve got some new faces around here, so we thought it was time for a little reintroduction and a big THANK YOU for following along on our crazy, fun, love-filled adventure!

Our story started back in 2023 when we met online, and we’ve pretty much been talking ever since. A little over a year ago, we started spending more time together, and well.. now we’re basically inseparable.

We still live in different cities, which means lots of flights, packed bags, airport hugs, and some pretty hard goodbyes. But we rarely go more than a few days apart, and almost every weekend is another adventure together. Is it always easy? Nope. Is it worth every single mile? A MILLION TIMES YES.

Doing life with Tony has been one of the greatest joys of my life. If you know him, you love him. He has the biggest heart and somehow manages to keep up with all my crazy ideas, spontaneous plans, and never-ending adventures. He’s my biggest supporter, my favorite travel buddy, and makes even the ordinary days worth remembering. Life is just a whole lot more fun with him in it.

And to all of YOU.. thank you! What started as us sharing little pieces of our lives has turned into this sweet corner of the internet filled with so much kindness, encouragement, and love. The world can feel pretty negative sometimes, but you’ve reminded us just how many genuinely GOOD people are out there. We feel it, and we never take it for granted.

Around here, we don’t really have rules for posting. 😂 Consider this our very public, slightly chaotic scrapbook of life. You can usually find us somewhere between the lake in Oregon, the mountains of Utah, the sunshine in California, or the streets of New York. Always on the move, usually with a suitcase half-packed, and finding our next adventure. Expect travels, projects, celebrations, everyday moments, and probably way too many pictures of each other. If that’s not your thing, no hard feelings.. keep on scrolling! But if you’re sticking around, we promise to always find a reason to celebrate and have a good time. 🫶🏼

We’d like to clarify some additional details about Kelly Clarkson’s visit to our Curiosity Shop on Saturday.

During the 5 minutes she spent in the store, she inquired about our mechanical bird puppet named Molly. We explained that while Molly is permanently attached to the wall and serves as a de facto mascot for our shop, a nearly identical automaton is owned by the creator of the machines, a brilliant artist named Bliss Kolb who lives in Seattle. He told us he would be willing to part with Molly’s twin for $15,000. We explained all of this to Kelly Clarkson.

We also offered to show her a different singing bird automaton, made by a traditional clockmaking shop in Germany, that she could have taken home with her that day. It costs about $2,000. She did not stick around long enough to see it.

We’ve reached out to Kelly directly to try and clear the air. We really do wish her the best and hope that someday we can all laugh about this misunderstanding.
