SADRIE ALVES @sadriealves
WHEN THEY SING US TO SLEEP, 2025
______
WHEN THEY SING US TO SLEEP, 2025
Commissioned by Kunsthalle Trier.
In this performative reading, artist Sadrie Alves intertwines melody and storytelling to create a multilayered poetic experience. She approaches the singing and speaking voice as a conduit for memories, identities, and social expression.
By weaving together intercultural melodies and narratives, Alves explores the lullaby as a fragile yet powerful form of care — a medium that bridges oral tradition, agency, and musical heritage. Inspired by obscure stories from the Trier region, she takes the Venus of St. Matthias as a point of departure, unraveling complex histories within an intimate, reflective soundscape.
