Screen Alliance Wales are extremely proud to announce that our Managing Director, Allison Dowzell, has been awarded an OBE in His Majesty the King’s Birthday Honours for services to the broadcast industry. Allison has dedicated her working life to the Film and Television Industry and thoroughly deserves this recognition. She works tirelessly to break down barriers to the industry and provide opportunities to those who never thought a career in TV was even a possibility. We consider ourselves very lucky to be led by her today, and always. Congratulations, Allison Dowzell, OBE, with love from your SAW family.
We’d also like to congratulate Jane Tranter on her incredibly well-deserved CBE. The work we do at SAW would be impossible without her continued passion and support. We are proud to have her as our Commander!
A word from Allison on this incredible achievement:
“I’m incredibly honoured, and more than a little overwhelmed, to have been awarded an OBE in His Majesty The King’s Birthday Honours for services to the broadcast industry.
This recognition means a great deal, but it’s not something I accept alone. Building a career, and building something like Screen Alliance Wales, takes a team. I’ve had the privilege of working alongside some of the most talented, passionate and committed people in the industry.
Screen Alliance Wales simply wouldn’t exist without the extraordinary support of our industry partners, broadcasters, studios, crew, educators and facility companies, who have believed in what we do and helped us grow every step of the way.
Just as importantly, this journey has been rooted in the local communities across Wales. Their energy, creativity and determination have inspired me every day. It’s been a privilege to help open doors into this industry and watch young people from all parts of Wales realise their ambition. I stand in awe of what they go on to achieve.
I also want to thank my husband Bryn, my children Kim, Amy and JC, whose unwavering support has carried me through the challenges and milestones alike. I simply couldn’t have done any of this without them."
