Let’s see here folks lot of information incoming, so Fred Marshall here writing this message. I’m a member of the ifbma and the ifbma has nothing to do with naccc but I’ve volunteered the last few naccc’s to help facilitate the forum. Last year at naccc Guadalajara was allowed to put in a proxy bid cause they couldn’t send anyone across the boarder cause of visa’s. They ended up winning the bid, I told their representative that a person from Guadalajara would need to be at naccc in Vancouver to confirm the bid, he promised one would be there. I also believe I said this to the community at large during the announcement at the awards party. Recently I have reached out and found out that Guadalajara will not be sending anyone from the city to confirm the bid. When I tired to get some more information I got radio silence from their representative from naccc last year and I have not heard anything from them. So even though the naccc hasn’t ever officially confirmed the same guide lines for cmwc we have followed the precedent of the cmwc/ifbma guide lines in the past when working out bidding and finding host cities. Which means it looks like we will have to find a new host for 2026 and a host for 2027 as well unfortunately. If Guadalajara sends a last minute representative to Vancouver all of this becomes moot, but being ready with a back up plan is always a great idea. So at the forum in Vancouver we will need to find 2026/27 host and talk about this situation so we can avoid it in the future, if there is no city who can to step up to host in 2026 we will have to talk about what to do. This is an unfortunate situation and I know we can find a solution to this issue. The forum will take place on Saturday after qualifying, I would expect it to take a bit longer than normal so just keep that in mind everyone. Voting will start after the forum and run up until the awards party per usual. The naccc organizers have enough on there plate with the event so reach out to me @frd_mrshall with any questions
