Hailing from Joburg, South Africa, and now based in Bristol, UK, Lo Chi is DJ and producer carving out a unique space in the realms of bass music and techno. His sound, defined by deep sub-bass, sharp textures and dark atmospheres, showcases a mastery of syncopation and hypnotic rhythms. With contemporaries like Henry Greenleaf, Sub Basics and Javano, along with support from influential figures such as Lamont or Yak, Lo Chi is an artist deserving greater recognition in the current electronic music landscape.
“Dead Man’s Switch” marks Lo Chi’s sophomore EP and his debut solo release on Dead Trax, following contributions to the label’s various artists compilations. Featuring 5 original cuts that range from 120 to 130 BPM, DDTX005 is a testament to his creativity and versatility, reflecting the innovative spirit of Bristol’s underground sound.
In Lo Chi’s words, “this EP concludes some moments within my continued practice in production; Some inspired by trips to Berlin’s club scene, some galvanised by mid winter days inside with cyclical rhythm. Each track feels to be a principal example of its palette, extended over 6 years. Love to Henry, Ed, Dean, Benji and Tony for their continued faith.”
