Introducing DIP.
A custom Hand Type Font, I’m designing and working on available Fall 2026. This will be the beginning of my journey to design and license fonts for commercial usage.
Inspired fluid motions through singular strokes, DIP is my interpretation of what I like to call “Dismantled Declaration Scrawl.”
The objective for this Type Face was to evoke a mixture of urgency and ease at the same time that captures a level of attention that doesn’t need to be reached for. To use tools I’ve never used before. Quite the juxtaposition to attempt to accomplish, but with the use of sharp Calligraphy nibs and tools merged with fluid Chinese inks with great traction that absorbs various thick GSM papers that I create with, the combination over time has allowed me to strike a beautiful balance.
DIP is a custom Hand Type Font to be used for Movie Title Typeface, Brand Identities, Packaging Design, and Kinetic Typography Animation Motion projects.
A full case study and more visual references will be released when the font becomes available for purchase.
For now I wanted to share a bit of the journey. The continuous development of DIP has occurred in various cities around the world, which gives it a globally inspired feel.
A rebirth of my Hand Type is here.
A rebranding of Reggie Black is in progress and it is shaping beautifully.
The Reggie Black website will be redesigned very soon.
I’ll be out in the world given talks again soon about Hand Type and this Analog to Digital process, I’ve chiseled away at for years.
I’m available for hire and accepting commissions to work on Brand Identity, Brand Strategy, and Custom Typography projects. I’m also available for hire for talks and speaking engagements.
My contact details are in my bio.
The world is moving fast, AI is here but I think tactile experiences and hand made things will always have an intentional place to those that it resonates with. Those of us that work with our hands, time to get to it.
Whenever you feel lost, return to where you started. That’s where the fuel is.
