Happy Anniversary! 27yrs on March 27! We went back to where we got married, Different Pointe of View and it was so fun! Love and laughter has kept us together. Looking forward to many more years !🥂💃❤️ and fun fact I wore this exact dress to our rehearsal!

16 years ago, our Ithumba team found a young calf incarcerated in a drying dam. She was completely bogged in the mud and could have easily gone undiscovered.

Today, that same elephant is living wild and a mother of two beautiful daughters. Ithumbah, as we named her, grew up in our care before reclaiming her place among Tsavo’s elephants. She gave birth to her first baby, Iman, in 2022. Iris followed last November.

Although they are leading entirely wild lives, Ithumbah and her girls are regular visitors around Ithumba — these photos were taken just a few days ago. It’s such a privilege to be part of these elephants’ stories, from one rescued orphan to a whole family.

The fact that most of our ex-orphans continue to visit us, long after they have embraced their independence, shows just how powerful family bonds are in elephant society.

Thank you for being part of that family. Your support makes these stories possible. Because of you, we are able to not only rescue orphans, but also commit upwards of a decade to their day-and-night care, until they are ready to return to the wild.
