Show this ☝🏽 post to your GAL or Judge who is trying so adamantly to dismiss your perception and deny your evidence. Pedophiles don’t have a particular face, race, upbringing, or social status. They don’t walk around looking like monsters. They are very charming and liked. These individuals are sons, husbands, fathers, and leaders in our communities. Some wear uniforms, hold public office, teach, coach, pray & are in positions entrusted with protecting women & children from domestic violence, child abuse, and sexual assault. I didn’t include the countless teachers, principals, counselors, therapists, doctors, coaches and pastors that are listed on @red_flagsandbodybags The reality is that these individuals are embedded in our communities, families, friendships, and social circles. They are people we welcome into our homes, trust around our children, and sometimes defend without knowing who they really are. The individuals featured in this post? These are the ones who got caught but there are ones who still live amongst us. They deliberately position themselves in positions of power, not only to disguise who they really are, but to gain access, influence, and protection for themselves and like-minded individuals. The very institutions entrusted with protecting children can become places where abuse is concealed and accountability obstructed. Yes, women commit these crimes too, but men overwhelmingly account for DV/sexual abuse offenses. We also need to stop assuming incarceration or therapy automatically eliminates the risk of future harm. This won’t go away. And let’s not forget the enablers. Some of the most dangerous individuals are those who knowingly protect these predators, silence victims, discredit those who speak out, and shield perpetrators from accountability. You can look away if you want, they don’t have to be strangers. Sometimes they’re sitting right beside us. We need to ask WHY our children aren't being protected and WHY predators aren't being held accountable. Take a look at who's being exposed. Sometimes the answer is hiding in plain sight. #ProtectOurChildren #StopChildPredators #ChildSexualAbuse #InstitutionalAbuse #ChildSafety
Utterly devastated to wake up to the news of the great Ciara Mageean’s passing this morning. It’s so hard to believe that this incredible woman, pictured here just one week ago at her amazing & joyful wedding, is no longer with us. I only got to know Ciara for such a short time but felt such a connection. I’m sure most of the photos shared today will be of her unbelievable sporting achievements and rightfully so. But I just knew her as a bride who was going to celebrate her wedding to the man she loved more than anyone and to throw a big party for her best friends and family and nothing was going to stop her. I saw a woman facing incredible odds pulling every ounce of energy she could summon to make sure everyone had the best day. Getting out of the makeup chair to give me the biggest hug. Helping to round up family members for the family photos, handing out sparklers in the evening and taking part in the Poc Fada. At the start of the morning I had no idea if she’d have enough energy to be able to go through with even the ceremony. Yet here she is pictured near the end of the night, fist raised in triumph, surrounded by the beautiful energy and love of her people. When I said goodnight to her on Sunday she gave me one more amazing hug and told me she’d love to meet up for a coffee next time she was up in Dublin. How I wish that could have been. A sad day for Ireland, a hero lost. My heart goes out to her incredible family who surrounded her with so much love (but also incredible craic) and to her beloved Tommy. Thinking of you all. GRiZ says he will find a new location for his Seven Stars festival after learning the event's current site was once a plantation. The second edition of Seven Stars happened earlier this month, Oc. 9-11, at Oak Ridge Estate & Farm in Arrington, Virginia. In a statement posted to social media, the producer noted that his team was previously made aware of the site's history and consulted with educators at the University of Virginia on the issue, but that the issue was never brought to him. "I had naively assumed that if an issue of this weight arose, it would be brought to my attention," says the artist born Grant Kwiecinski. "But true leadership does not allow for deflecting of accountability. This responsibility for what happens under my name sits squarely on my shoulders. This fell on my watch, and the failure is entirely mine." He continues that Seven Stars will not return to Oakridge Farm and that he and his team "are taking an intentional hiatus to search for a new home." More details at the link in bio.
