Little boards are tricky to get going.

High reward once you’re up.

However - if you go too small on the foil and it’s too hard to get up then you’ll safety surf - so it defeats the purpose of the smaller board.

720s on this day was too small and meant I had to work super hard to get up. Once up I safety surfed.

Picking gear is about right intentions for the session to

Is it for training, relaxing, progressing or shredding.

Looking good, just need to get that board speed up maintain it, and wait for the next swell for the popup on to foil. You have great technique just adjust the timing and output. I love my 90l for dw, after 10 or so seasions it all comes together.

Do you really find that much benefit from such a smaller board? And if the goal is to lose swing weight, doesn’t it make sense to just go shorter, with a little more width, vs such low volume that you struggle to get up? (I know at a certain point the width hurts as much or more than the low volume)

My 6’10.5””x 21” paddles up quite easily when on bigger glidy foils(AxisFB1250). With enough rocker, maybe the wider the better. It hops and pops very quickly. I’ve yet to try it with my FB 1070. That could be entirely different.
