Sam Kogon

I’ve been quiet about this for the last month but I can finally share the news. I’m proud to represent fellow independent artists everywhere as the lead plaintiff in a federal class action lawsuit Kogon versus Google.

It’s taken me years to develop my voice and my craft spending thousands of hours practicing to get the tones and the things I wanna say and sing just right. This is about what Google and many companies take from us without ever paying for it. They’ve used our songs to train AI that now directly competes with us.

I wasn’t expecting for the case to be named after me but I’m honored to stand up for the underrepresented. I am standing up for the ones who don’t have label execs making deals on their behalf (myself included). It’s really my David and Goliath moment.

We have livelihoods and intellectual property to protect. The human soul and spirit cannot be turned into numbers and code. My original music and voice shouldn’t be used to train AI for corporate profit without even getting an acknowledgment or being asked.

I’m fighting for my music, for my peers, and for the soul of what we do.
