we’re turning 3!

and we’ve got a [ live ambient ] banger of a line-up this month @signals_ambient to celebrate, wednesday july 29th upstairs @kentst 7pm.

hot off the heels of @kcin_doowhsa aka Nick Ashwood’s radiant solo guitar performance a couple months back, he’s back with titan of the scene @avivaendean in their Driftwood duo, capping off a national run of shows launching their latest record Maps.. Bob Baker Fish of Cyclic Defrost says,”Driftwood sees the duo performing face to face, with back to back organs, utilising two re-tuned antique pump organs, which offer a lush resonant backdrop for their primary instruments of clarinets (Aviva) and guitars (Nick), complemented by modular synths and electronics. It’s highly immersive music, these immense droning buzzing blurs of sound.

keeping it big we have CELLOSPELLS: “an anonymous collective of local cellists who gather in accordance with the sacred cycles of the moon to make analog vibration-based spells for willing participants” who will also be accepting requests for spells from the audience.. though physical magickal results are not guaranteed sonic magick is highly likely..

and capping the night with actual bangers will be Pierre B aka @letxequaly who is returning to Signals Ambient to present a soft launch of his brand new release titled 'Perkons Planet'– featuring 4 tracks that evolved from a series of studio jams using the now discontinued Perkons drum machine (hand made in Latvia by Erica Synths and looking like it would be at home in a 1970’s submarine control console). Perkons Planet gives a nod to old skool minimal bleep textures, taped voice cut-ups and industrial darkwave soundscapes. Pierre’s set will be his first outing with the Perkons as a live instrument and should prove an interesting experiment in sonic exploration, expect some chunky beats and synthy ambient weirdness with a few wobbly dub treatments!
