Artist Feature Post 2/2

To complete the lineup for tomorrow @nicos.hackneybridge we’re welcome more friends both old @nathancoless and new

1. @adacotton / DJ Aïe Que Calor!

We recently had the pleasure of meeting Ada at one of @spanielkopita recent @bodega_nights_ldn events, where we shared a very fun B2B covering many different genres from across the African continent. It’s a pleasure to hear her selection once again!

Ada is a London-based French-Rwandese
writer and director for Film and Visual Arts, based
in London and Dakar.

After an MA in Ethnomusicology, she worked as a
Documentary Filmmaker and as a Producer for several
award winning critically aclaimed independent narrative feature films. Her documentary ‘African Sewing Club’ was exhibited at the Pavilion Museum in Brighton, the BFI and BBC World Africa in 2016. Her body of work also includes a debut narrative short, ‘Progress (1968)’, and ‘Bubble Killer’, her debut short showcasing at the Southwark Playhouse in 2022 and the Blue Elephant Theatre in 2023

Her focus is on incorporating her passion for
traditional African music and other fusion genres
to tell visual narratives from the African diaspora
and on the continent. 🌍🇷🇼

2. @nathancoless

Longtime supporter of ours and friend of the label @nathancoless is back after playing at last year’s takeover. He’s a local legend and one hell of a record dealer… constantly searching the depths of eBay this guys knows how to hunt down a good deal. Once famously finding a blue note jazz collection worth 50 times what it was priced at.

Possibly Oliver N’Goma’s number 1 fan… Nathan is also a huge fellow zouk lover! Several years ago he came to dig through a box of zouk records @joshffb had brought back from Paris… over the years it’s been a pleasure to watch his love for the genre grow ❤️

Having graduated from Central Saint Martens, Nathan is also an acclaimed artistic director / fashion designer - you can check his unique and impressively creative work @nathancoles_

3. @joshffb

Never heard of him - sounds overrated… heard he’s got a lot of Caribbean and African records or something…let’s see if any of them are worth listening to 😉🌴
