Peace Everyone,
I want to thank every single person who was present for Studio Arisaema’s Grand Opening / pop up fundraiser. We raised around $800 and celebrated this new chapter for Minneapolis music, being the first and only Black trans & queer owned professional recording studio in the state. None of which would’ve been possible without those who donated their time, coin, voices, food, raffle prizes and care.
Now, as Pride month comes to a close, I am here to remind you, the movement for Black trans liberation and autonomy does not end on the 30th of June. It is crucial that we cultivate spaces like Studio Arisaema that champion creative autonomy, especially within Black and trans communities. By us and for us with 0 compromises.
As one might expect, being in the business of subverting the status quo in an overwhelmingly white city and state is not particularly lucrative.
I’m not going to sugar coat anything. We need financial support to keep this space and all that it represents alive and WELL. White Allies to the front. Link in bio. Please spread the word far and wide.
