🌞 A massive cheers!
🌀What a whirlwind of a week/end and the mammoth organization of studio team, artists, curators, volunteers, chefs, hospitality, security staff, friends and family alongside the wider public that made my first Open Studios at Kindred Studios x Kensington + Chelsea Art Fringe, a memorable one. Over 4300 passed through the gates to meet us!
✨First dedication to mama whose recollection of experiences and line of ancestors I will be forever discovering, while accepting contradictions as memory fades and the unknown gaps of unanswered questions. My longing for roots in Filipine, Jamaican and Chinese lands in relationship to Euro-American colonization are my life’s work and responsibility not to forget.
🌿Taiye Idahor @greenpaintbowl brought the biscuits, motivated the chill while sorting out artwork set up and finessed our diddy space 🦋🙏
🕸️Special thanks to Zhang Hailun @zhanghailun.curatorialartlife whose curatorial concept for Web of Life exhibition placed Floating Points, 2025, within the wider discussion of art as a vehicle to connect and provoke our human responsibility to earth and each other. Exhibition on show in the Kindred | Gramophone Works gallery space until 7 September 2026.
📽️Patricia Taveres for timely answering the callout for projector and serendipitously have our work displayed opposite each other.
🔨To the Courtauld students who pieced and paired studio artist works together to spotlight our space/practice - working together with Roberts’s to ensure installation was complete.
🪡A well deserved high five to fellow Common Thread project artist Linnéa Duckworth @linnea.duckworth for cohosting a jam packed workshop, Threads of Care, to adults and minis who had clear visions of what they wanted to make.
So many events, performances and interventions I didn’t get to visit let alone capture. Another strategy for the next one ;-)
