There are not many people who will happily meet at 6:30am on a Sunday morning - but Conor and Rose are those kind of people ๐ฑ
They run
@aralfarm, a two-acre market garden near Columb Major where they grow vegetables in an organic, sustainable way. Their aim? Replace supermarkets with super market gardens ๐ฅฌ๐ฅ
Ducks waddled along the bark-chip paths as Conor and Rose showed me polytunnels bursting with sweet-scented tomatoes and perfectly neat rows of spring onions ๐
They primarily use hand tools to cultivate the land, showing me their no-till method and the resulting seriously top-quality soil โจ
And can you guess what their logo is? Not an onion, not a garlic bulbโฆ A sweet chestnut, fruit from trees on-site that will last for five generations, which is ultimately their hope for Aral Farm ๐ณ
Most of their produce goes to local restaurants, but you can buy their veggies at
@newquayfarmersmarket and
@crantockfarmersmarket, among other local Newquay spots, or sign up for their veg box scheme (padron peppers - yes please!) ๐คฉ
Thanks for having me to snap photos, @aralfarm! And showing me how to use a hoe! ๐
