TERRITORIAL CLASH OF THE INDIAN PITTA

A burst of nine vivid colors explodes in a high-stakes boundary dispute on the dry forest floor. The Indian Pitta (Pitta brachyura), usually a secretive and solitary ground-feeder, transforms into a fierce warrior when its territory is threatened.

Leaping into the air with wings fully flared, these two rivals engage in a gravity-defying aerial duel. By flashing their brilliant turquoise wing patches and striking crimson underparts, each bird attempts to intimidate the other and secure its exclusive feeding grounds.

It is a split-second, high-adrenaline battle for dominance, beautifully illustrating the untamed, competitive spirit of the wild.
