A piece of Uluru history that so many people still remember 🧡

We’d love to hear from those who climbed it… what was it like?

And if you still could today… would you? 👀

First went to AyresRock, as it was, with my family in 1959. Drove up there from Adelaide. In dad’s Holden FC station wagon. Campsite was very basic. It rained so I got some great black and white photos. Climbed to the top, the route up was marked with pyramids of small stones. It was so wet that ended staying in Rangers hut , bill Harney, to stay dry.

Climbed it in September 2018 and it was a hard slog up and a very precarious one down.

We went in 2018 ( just before they closed it to climbing) and on the 4 days we were there it was too windy and climbed was shut. We were so disappointed that we couldn’t do it. Should still be open to those who want to

Yep I (Cam) did as a kid, would 100% do it again if we could.

I did it as a teenager and remember it being a hard slog at the start but up the top was spectacular! If we were still able to I would climb it again!
