Your squat is a photograph. Your impulse is a video
The squat tells you what you can do when time doesn’t matter. Take four seconds to get it up, grind the rep. It still counts
Your sport doesn’t work like that. A swing is under half a second from hips to hands to bat. The first step out of a break is faster. Nobody’s giving you four seconds
So we test concentric impulse at 50 and 100 milliseconds… force expressed inside the window your sport actually gives you
The reason it’s worth testing is that it has real world implication
Mason’s went from 136 to 276 in four weeks. That’s 102.94% in one training cycle…
Your squat number is comfortable. It goes up if you keep showing up
Impulse only goes up if you’re violent with it. That’s why we track it
Most places don’t even know what impulse is
