I’ve been doing @whatabbeywore’s July outfit challenge… kind of? I’ve just been picking and choose the prompts that interest me and doing my best. Can’t say they’ve all been winners, but they definitely all haven’t been losers, either!
Swipe through for my ratings & thoughts on each one so far.
The only color wheel opposites I remembered were red/green (Christmas) and orange/blue (vintage Cavs), so I was delighted to learn that this recently thrifted dress fit the bill. Unfortunately I shrunk it in the wash, so I wore it over jeans — a look that I always expected to hate, but actually kind of loved.
9/10 for pushing myself so far outside my comfort zone
I wore this on the first 100° day of the season, when I absolutely couldn’t bear to have anything touching my body. Simple, but I felt cool in it.
7/10 got lots of compliments on my “certified yapper” hat
I loooove this recently thrifted vintage dress with illustrated flowers, despite very much not being a “vintage dress with illustrated flowers” kinda gal.
9/10 cool girl vibes
I’m kind of embarrassed by this outfit because the tie-shirt is just so millennial cringe. I hated it as I was wearing it, and I hate it now. But I’m still including it here because part of the experimenting with style is getting it wrong along the way
4/10 good pattern-mixing, but throwing this shirt in the donation pile ASAP
I got this LOFT shirt for $8, and it quickly shot to the top of my all-time faves list. I liked that I was able to make it feel a little sporty instead of more traditionally girly, as lace usually is.
9/10 this is peak “what I want from my style” energy
This photo washes me out, but I think the color of this backless jumpsuit was actually pretty cute on me?
6/10 will accessorize better next time
I took liberties with this theme, given that my dream job is simply “writer who works from home.” This outfit is nothing groundbreaking, but these are my all-time favorite pants, and I love any outfit that revolves around them.
9/10 gonna buy more bright blue stuff
