Today was one of those days that reminds me how lucky I am to do the work we are doing.
In A Heartbeat was honored to partner with Connecticut native and NBA player Andre Drummond at the Andre Drummond All-Stars Basketball Camp. Together, we provided free heart screenings (EKGs) to campers and taught CPR and AED skills to the high school athletes.
For me, this is what prevention looks like. We know that sudden cardiac arrest can happen to anyone—even young athletes. By combining early detection through EKG screenings with lifesaving CPR and AED education, we’re helping identify hidden heart conditions while empowering the next generation with skills that can save a life.
A special thank you to Andre for using his platform to prioritize the health and safety of young people.
I’m also incredibly grateful to our amazing volunteers from the Quinnipiac University School of Nursing Community Engagement Program, the Physician Assistant Program, and the Netter School of Medicine, along with everyone in our incredible In A Heartbeat family who gave their time and energy to make today possible. Your passion and commitment are what make days like this a reality.
It takes a village to create safer communities, and today was a perfect example of what’s possible when people come together around a shared mission.
Every screening. Every person trained. Every conversation. It all matters. ❤️🏀
