Double workout days are a pretty normal part of marathon training for me.
Today was 20 min easy + 25 min at marathon pace + 20 min easy in the morning,
then 20 min easy + 10–12 × 1 km at 10K effort off 1 min + 20 min easy later in the day.
The challenge isn’t just completing both sessions — it’s recovering enough between them that the second one is still productive.
In the heat or on the treadmill, sweat loss can get pretty high. Sweat is mostly water, but sodium is the main electrolyte lost with it.
As dehydration sets in, your plasma volume can drop, aerobic efforts can become harder or strained, and cooling your core temperature really becomes harder, so replacing both fluids and sodium becomes more important when training sessions are rather long, hot, or especially sweaty.
That’s where Mortal Hydration fits for me:
water replaces the fluid, while the sodium helps replace some of what I’m losing and helps with fluid retention.
On a double day, it’s a simple way to stay on top of hydration between sessions rather than trying to play catch-up later.
It’s not a replacement for food, sleep, or recovery — just one useful piece of the process.
Two sessions, a lot of sweat, refuel, rehydrate, repeat. That’s what feeds my inner energy bunny 🐰
