Back in Vegas after my annual silent meditation retreat.
It’s always an adjustment. From a cozy cabin in the woods to the energy and stimulation of Las Vegas and all that comes with it.
Each year I return to sit with life’s deeper questions, which is never easy, and always so revealing.
Meditation doesn’t make you special. It doesn’t solve all of life’s problems. What it does is gently place you back in the center of your own life. It teaches you to be present, to stay open, and to live each moment more fully … with yourself and with the people around you.
After a week away, I opened social media for the first time. In a single scroll, I witnessed so much of life unfolding at once: birthdays, proposals, a wedding, DWTS, Oprah coming to Vegas … alongside the sadness of a passing, someone I love facing illness, another recovering from an injury, and even finding out that my Facebook account, yet again had been hacked.
It was simply too much to take in all at once, so I closed the app quickly.
It reminded me that this is life. Joy and heartbreak, celebration and struggle, all existing side by side. We don’t get to choose which moments arrive, but we do get to choose how present we are for our own lives.
As I leave my 10th silent retreat, I return feeling more spiritually fit, not because I have all the answers, but because I’ve created a little more space to listen. To myself. To others. To Life.
Ready to serve.Ready to be present.Ready to make a difference, one moment at a time.
It’s good to be home. ♥️
