Byron Theatre

Introducing 𝘚𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘳𝘴

Great stories need time, space and support to grow.

Byron Theatre Company is proud to launch 𝘚𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘳𝘴, a new development program supporting Northern Rivers artists to create and develop original Australian theatre right here in the region.

Designed for creative teams with new work ready for its next stage, 𝘚𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘳𝘴 offers dedicated development time, mentorship, dramaturgical support and professional resources to explore ideas, test work and discover what a project needs next.

Four projects will be selected for a three-day Development Lab at Byron Theatre, with up to two progressing to a five-day Project Residency and work-in-progress showing.

Confirmed mentors include producer Jane Fuller and award-winning director Heather Fairbairn, with guest mentors including acclaimed actor and director Wayne Blair joining artists during the Residency stage.

Whether you’re developing a new play, devised work, physical theatre, contemporary performance or something that crosses disciplines, we want to hear what you’re creating.

Expressions of Interest are now open via the link in our bio.

Applications close Sunday 1 November at 6pm.
