17 YEARS SOBER TODAY. 6,209 DAYS. ❤️

Holy shit. 17 years. Sometimes I can’t believe it myself.

17 years ago, I made a decision that changed my life. I didn’t have it all figured out. I just knew I couldn’t keep living the way I was.

What I’ve learned is that getting sober was only the beginning. Learning to live life on life’s terms has been the real challenge.

Because life doesn’t give a shit how many years you have sober. It will still knock you on your ass. People will disappoint you, hearts will break, things won’t go as planned, and sometimes life just fucking hurts.

I’ve made mistakes, trusted the wrong people, held on too long, and had to learn some pretty painful lessons. I’ve had incredible highs and some really dark lows.

But I’ve faced every single one of them sober. And that means everything to me.

I’ve learned that I can’t control people, situations, or outcomes. I can only control how I respond. I’m still stubborn, still emotional, still a work in progress, and still learning to let go of things I can’t change.

Today, I want to thank God for giving me another chance at life, for carrying me through the moments I didn’t think I could handle, and for never giving up on me. 🙏🏻

I’m grateful for the people who have loved me, the lessons that have humbled me, and the woman I’ve become along the way.

And to anyone struggling right now, please don’t give up. You don’t have to figure out your entire life today. Just get through today. If that’s too much, take it an hour at a time.🩷

That’s how I got here.

6,209 days. Not all good days. Not all easy days. But every damn one of them sober.

Thank you, God, for 17 years of second chances, growth, and a life I once couldn’t imagine.

Still standing. Still learning. Still grateful. One day at a time. ❤️
