Lynne Chapman

I had the great priviledge of being invited to paint at a recording session in Nether Edge's Cafe no 9 last night. I hadn't previously come across the work of Iona Kaye and was amazed by her voice and the originality of her song-writing.

I had to be SO quiet while working - quite a challenge not to clink a pencil or brush on the table as I was swapping back and forth!

I've done this a couple of times before and you get to hear the same songs over and over, which is actually a lovely experience, as they gradually become familiar and you notice more and more of the lyrics each time. Iona's songs are sufficiently complex and unusual that it would take an awful lot of repetition for you to get tired of them!
